You can also remove the brake fluid cap and seal it with Saran Wrap (tm) or equivalent and that will also stop it from draining. Remove and replace cap when done!

Time for new ones! The nasty part of the job is releasing the connection between the soft line and the hard line.

If you know you are replacing the soft line, it’s ok to Dremel/ cut/grind it off to get a good six point tool on the fastener and help with this step. Do this BEFORE you damage it.

It was on my face during the rotor replacement job early summer.
The cracks and tear on black rubber sleeve are deep enough that I can see the narrow white vein. Next window for any repair is end of October.

Imagining brake caliper replacement with a rebuilt while I'm there -- it is original. I believe MVS maestro cn90 gave us a write up.

Be aware that the rebuilt parts supply chain has gone to crap in the past 2-4 years (Im guessing)

Ive had rebuilts freeze up in 2 years, and the front caliper pins they are putting in these are now crap pot metal.

Definitely pull your pins and see if they are magnetic - if not, save them.

Agreed with the above advice. I was not impressed with the quality of the bleed nipples and the caliper pins on the last set of rebuilt front calipers I installed about 4.5 years ago. -- I got them from Advance Auto. The next time I replace calipers, I'm going to look for something with higher quality. If anybody has found a good source please let me know. Thanks.

I purchased ATI hose set few years ago and tried replacing, but gave up soon after deforming the two connectors like ^ -- not as bad.

Would reusing bleeder nipples and caliper pin from the original recommended?

As long as the bleeder & pin are in good shape, it shouldn't be a problem reusing them. I've not had to replace a bleeder if it's still got it's rubber cap on, and odds are good you'll need to snad-down and rough spots on the pin to make sure it's smooth.

Sure, down there in TX, where the only thing bigger than the Hats, are the Hearts..

:D

Up here our metal turns to cheese from the winter and the salt - I replace bleeders most every time I open them, since I don't like snapping them off.

Lol, I'm a transplant, I moved down here three years ago from the Chicago area, so I'm quite familiar with salt & cold - two big reasons I moved! :)
