Nope, that looks like the roll over valve. I believe the 'good' hose is the 'J' hose going to the carbon canister, and the split one is the pipe that runs up to the breather filter attached on the top of the fuel filler pipe.

Fuel filter looks old, but no where as bad as the one on my V70 project was!

Yes, you just found one of your evap leaks. Note the plural.

:-)

That could fix it, but there can be others

Blessed are thee in Heaven, who have ME7, forty days and nights shall abet, before your EVAP monitor will reset.

( I'll link to the ME7 evap archive shortly)

LOL Neil
Okay I’ll jack up the car today and get a better look.
When I did the fuel filter I used ramps and they weren’t just tall enough for me. Today I’ll drag out the ye old jackstands.

Your fuel filter looks pretty dang old! I bet that sucker was a pain to get off.

Alright, transmission fluid has been changed and the L and J hose have been replaced.
Those hoses were not easy...I was expecting them to be pop on and pop off. I was wrong LOL.
I used heater hose from O’Reilly and had to stretch the ends to make them fit. Once I figured out I could shove the tube on a piece of copper pipe I have then take the torch to it...then let it sit for a few minutes, it wasn’t so bad.
$6 fix including the new hose clamps.

Codes have been reset, now we wait and drive once again!

I gotta say the threads I found on this site on changing the J and L tubes made my life easier!

In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Lord I hope so haha!

This morning I took it by the emissions station to do the precheck, the cat and O2 still had not reset...
I had put 300+ miles on it after resetting and before this most recent reset

It’s usually the Evap that takes time to reset. That’s weird.

Well the O2 sensor test finished it’s thing and marked itself complete.
The cat and evap system still hasn’t finished testing, but in my state I can have 2 incomplete and pass emissions. So I took my chance and it passed emissions.
This was the biggest thing I was worrying about on the car.
I’ll still be keeping an eye out to see if the check engine light comes back. I’d really hate to have a check engine light all the time...wait and see

The P1081 code came back again. When I was getting the emissions done the man turned the car off, went to turn it back on, and it failed to start twice, started on the third.
That’s when the code came back. It’s done that to me several times, it usually starts the second try and runs without question after that.
I’ve noticed the car only does this after I’ve been driving it. The first crank of the day it starts fine. If I have the lights on and don’t turn the car on within a couple minutes it’ll be hard to start, I assumed this was battery related.
The alternator is brand new and the battery isn’t that old either. As long as this is all that happens, I’ll probably ignore the p1081 code. I hate to leave a code unfixed but unless it starts causing concerning issues I can’t justify replacing computer parts.
