Both quotes are super!
I live in northern NY and 5 month of snow, so well versed in stopping on slushy, greasy, and hard pack snow roads. You do pucker a tad when tapping the brakes going down a greasy road. Need chains or studded snow tires for those conditions.
I do hate the "car eating" salt they put on roads up here. Which they would just use sand which is grippier, and well all just slow down.

It's no vortex, but this morning it was 5º here, blowing 25-45, and snowing hard. We're not used to that! Painful shoveling and walking the dog!
