Recap - Dome lights stay on all night with switch in DOOR position
Car failed to enter VIDA programming mode so cannot make keys
Today
From cold overnight, got into car, found one latch on red main power connector displaced. Reset, dome lights now working! On with door open, off closed after 15 seconds. All doors working. This happened before.
Start engine - dome lights come on and stay on! DoH!!!
Analysis - This sort of latching logic is rarely a connector or wire break- my diagnosis is that Control Lock Module 9472461 Reference 2/76 is faulty and is latching closed. When I get back from business, I will test this theory by disconnecting battery and starting cold again.
I happen to have a spare (KACHING!) and of course can rob from my 1999 T5 too.
Stay tuned!

Well, I swapped in a used unit, and same problem.
And a new problem - unlocking the doors with the door switch unlocked the trunk, too. I wonder of the lock control unit has to be programmed for wagen/sedan?
Put old one back in and new problem went away
Notes on removing 9483142 LOck Control unit
Remove driver kick panel (one T30 screw)
Remove yellow wire harness plug under dash
Ease open three plastic tabs in front side of control unit
Slide to left
Lower from dash
Remove A and B connectors - one tab to depress.

Problem still exists
Summary. Once the terminal 15 circuit has energized, the lock controller sends continuous 12 volt to the dome light Andre won’t tur:it off.
After about 2 hours, the controller resets and the dome light functions per the manual. On with door open, off after30 seconds.
I wonder if leaving the key in the antenna is related? Is that how the lock controller detects you leaving?
IT was doing this before I went to the “ external antenna key mode” to use my non-programmed keys

I tried it on my S40 by leaving one key in the ignition. With one key in the ignition, the other remote is disabled. However locking the door with the blade does turn off the dome lights.
The V70 maybe programed different. If somebody with a post 98 P80 X70 and two keys where to try this, you would have a more definite answer.

Bought a second controller 9483142 off eBay from an S70, I don't get the trunk error I did with the V70 module, but the same latched dome light fault remains.
Another clue - the key antenna module is continuously lit - this gets its voltage from the lock module - so the module is getting some input somewhere, to stay active.
I think I have correct functioning lock modules, with a bad input from somewhere.

More data
Key out of ignition, car off all day
Cold start last night. Go into car, turned dome switch To door position, opened driver door. and dome light did not come on. Kick light And door lights do come on.
Tried passenger door. No dome light, kick/ door light come on.
Closed door. Locked with door switch
Unlocked with door switch. Dome lights come on!
Relocked door switch. Light stay on for 30 seconds then all go off.
The second the key is turned to pos I, dome lights come on and stay on.
Conclusion...faulty input to the 2/76 lock controller box

Even more data
The function of opening the driver door with the outside handle triggers the light, the inner door handle does not.
With the car cold, the dome light functions normally...but....
And the plot thickens more. Just inserting the key into the ignition has triggered the "STUCK ON" dome light operation this morning. Ill confirm later this morning.
Idiot. I cycled the lock with the key in, and that triggered the lock shut/open cycle which turns on the light
KEY POS II is needed to create the latch fault.

This appears to be quite the brain teaser...
Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.
