It’s going to Volvo on Tuesday next for programming and code clearing. My wallet is already quivering.

Still has P0504 and P0571. I don’t have VIDA. I wish I did but it seems buying it is a crapshoot and setup can be frustrating. I hate computers at the best of times...

Actually for the gurus here on MVS to program the BCM you just need a Windows laptop and a Dice connected. Vida doesn't need to be installed.

Let us know how it all goes at dealer. My guess is around $350-400.

Vida is pretty essential stuff for a P2 owner, especially a car with over 10 years of use. I can't think how many times it saved my bacon. I use it to reset the Service light and have managed to change the reminder interval to 10,000km instead of the default 15,000km.

The Autel AL-619 does a decent code clearing and reading job on ECM, TCM, ABS and SRS if no programming is needed.

Today was the dealer trip! And it seems we have success! Quite a reasonable cost too of NZ$290. Here is the printout of the codes before programming

The door module fault and high stop fault didn’t clear but both the associated mirror and high stop work fine so I’m happy. The PHM fault is because I removed the phone keypad.

That high mount stop lamp's a pretty common (false) fault on the early P2s

Three more jobs knocked out today.

1. Refitted the battery covers since I won’t be needing to disconnect in the near future.

2. Subwoofer is now woofing! I checked all the fuses in the rear electronics module and found the 30A fuse blown. Replaced and working for now.

3. Removed tailgate trim to find NO broken clips (amazing). Refitted properly so it’s nice and tight. Annoyingly, there is still a terrible rattle from somewhere in the boot.(trunk)

The next thing I am still unhappy with is the slight surging or bunnyhopping I get from time to time.

This has improved a lot since the new BCM was fitted and the speed signals have been restored, but it is still present.

Going through some receipts in the glovebox, it seems surging is something that has plagued this car going back to 2009. Not much has been done to address it. On a couple of the worksheets there are comments like “unable to replicate fault”. Most recently two years ago the local Volvo dealer pulled boost related codes and replaced the TCV. The part used references to 2005+ model years which is why I replaced it again for the correct one with the correct clip for attaching to the airbox.

I went for a drive today with the live data screen open on my scanner. (Deserted country road) I am confused by what I am seeing I guess partly because I don’t know how it’s programmed, but squeezing half throttle shows the tps go to WOT briefly before oscillating a couple of times and settling at say 40% My observation is TPS is unrelated to throttle pedal position unless in a steady state. Is this normal?

There is a Both a commanded throtttle position and an actual throttle position , make sure you get the right one.

I’m looking at actual throttle position fluctuating. Steady as a rock when the engine isn’t running (key position II)

I replaced my factory TCV with an aftermarket MAC valve. Better performance and more boost as well as much better fuel consumption on the highway.

One of the posters here in Tassie (von baron) was using Fuchs 4400 and he didn't get a great result.
It seems that these transmissions not only like JWS3309 standard fluid but are very particular about the brand. I have tried Chief full synthetic, Penrite full synthetic and now finally God sent Nulon Full synthetic and it has done wonders for both our transmissions.

Even the Tassie guy is impressed with Nulon after one drain and fill. Does your transmission have any annoying quirks?
