Xhorse VVDI might be a better solution. There is a mini version that goes for $150.00. Have not found out what the cost of the credits is or how many credits per transponder copy. Works thru your cellphone.

Where did you find that?

From the eBay posting "Buy MINI Key Tool, get free ID48 96bit authorization function, and one token free everyday one year."
Does that mean up to 365 free clones in the first year?

The $250 is for a ID48 96bit authorization. I'm assuming the first year is free with the mini and one key token per day, not sure if that is use it or lose it or credited to the unit.

Well I got it installed, and it works great after a confusing fix that I'm curious to hear people's opinions about.

In a nutshell, I wasn't able to simply tape the chip to the antenna and stuff that into the dash, and my theory, after playing with it for a good hour, is pretty bizarre: I think the antenna needs to be against metal to work. In it's usual position that metal is the ignition. The metal I had on hand was a bunch of coins, and once I filled the ignition hole on the antenna with coins it worked great. I'm stumped as to why that would be, does anyone have a theory about that? Or some other explanation about why it wouldn't work away from the ignition before I added coins?

Eventually I'll get another antenna from the junkyard and put it over the ignition just for looks. And I couldn't get the damn steering column cover back on so I left it off for now. Does anyone happen to have any tips for getting that back on? I was wrestling with that thing for a good half hour. I'm considering trimming part of it off to make it easier unless there's some trick I'm missing.

Attaching a few pics, which are appearing in reverse order. And note that I put some red heat shrink on the chip to make it easier to keep track of, highly recommended.

I guessing the orientation of the chip is important. I think it is vertical in the key so you should preserve that

Remember this has to receive a pulse from the antenna and then broadcast a code back

The coins help couple the RF into the antenna, I Bet euro coins work 10% better

I thought of that and tried every possible orientation. Spacing too, since when it's on the key it's not pressed against the antenna. The only thing that made it work was the metal.

Reflector, makes the antenna directional and increases the gain?
Did you really need the whole stack of coins?
I would think just the quarter would do the trick.

It seemed more consistent with all the coins. Besides, I was feeling spendy.

You will pend a phantom code for ‘ key in too long’ with this but it won’t trip a CEL. You may find it does a start -stall-start-run cycle, as I found on my 1999 Evita when I did this
