Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!
In the US once they are worn out , we turn them around and use the other side of the tread. That’s what that arrow is for.

Other side or inside? My camber isn't bad enough for one side of the tyre to still be fresh. Slicks might be the bees knees on a dry track but they kind of suck in the rain.

Installed front brakes on the S60 R.
Brembo rotors, Akebono pads, SS brake lines (one line was cracked), then flushed all 4 wheels with 2 liters of ATE SL.6. Bedded the pads with a couple rounds of repeated hard stops. Front brakes are much better now the last few days, solid and responsive.
The car came to me with CarQuest pads (still had 6 mm when I took them off last week), some unnamed and pretty thin rotors, and a terrible shimmy upon braking that I could not burn off.

Did you mean braided SS brake hoses or did you indeed replace all the brake lines?

Tell us more! Love these stories...abscate wrote: ↑17 Jun 2018, 05:11 That’s some beautiful country there. We have a Mr Pruitt and a Mr Watt who can help you preserve it and keep it clean for you, if you need help.
On topic...fixed a $2000 quoted BMW AWD driveline problem with a 29 cent washer so that I get my P2 back for SWMBO business trip. She has to take the BMW.

Replaced (ok - last week) my sway bar end links with Lemforders. Old ones were originals and were not too sloppy however the suspension clicking I had prior is gone.
Hit a salvage yard today and picked up:
A splash pan (the PO's had gone missing after too many JiffyLube visits)
A cargo cover
A rear cargo area carpet (Volvo OEM)
A door lock actuator (that seems to have fixed my wonky central locking)
A USA-SPEC Volvo iPod integration module with all the harnesses
A HomeLink sun visor
Going to do a Gibbons flush soon, then tackle the struts.

The iPod interface was a USA-SPEC PA11-VOL. I have it working with my 4th generation (2002) iPod via the 1/8" jack. My iPhone 5S works via this as well. When the iPod is hooked up via the "standard" connector for that age it shows it's connected to VOLVO and that it's "ready to disconnect", charges, but doesn't play audio. Volume seems a bit funky (turn it off, then on and it's quieter each time) but maybe that's me. USA-SPEC promotes the idea that "you can use your steering wheel controls" to see tracks and whatnot, but it's a bit of a compromise in that you need to create playlists, it will show those playlist names and those playlists will respond to track forward/backward steering wheel control. I'm fine with just using the controls on the device.
Relatedly, feature I'm wishing this head unit (the base one) had: Resetting of volume down to something reasonable upon re-engagement of key/starting of car....as it stands, I need to remember to turn it down before shutting it off.

Just passed 330k km.
Did 700km of these curving country roads today. Plus a bit of picturesque gravel road.
Sweden is dry as tinder. Drove through the smoke of one of the large forest fires going on for a while.

4th transmission drain & fill in 13k miles. Fluid still looks like mahogany. No sign of that nice cherry red I was hoping to see. Shifts like butter though. Fluid had never been changed when we bought the car at 130k miles last December and there were some low speed bang shifts which is probably why we got it so cheaply. Those seem to have disappeared.
