I happen to dig these pictures up and thought I'd share them for the youngsters out there.
Yes - we not only made boats out of wood ( nothing rides like a wooden boat ! ) , but cars and airplanes as well.
This is a 1932 Rolls Royce Goshawk that I built the coach for. At the time I was told that it was one of 12 known to still exist.

You can see that the car had been hit in the rear at some point and was repaired, kind of. But the whole right side was gone. Swept up in a dust pan. So I made a mirror image of the left side and went from there. Rear fenders are compound curves.

Once I was done, it was traliered to LA for body and paint. Unfornatulay I never saw it again. The guy who owned it passed away and I lost track of it after that.
But I still have my pics ! :)

Amazing craftsmanship Sveedy! Did all the bodywork have to be made in LA, or was there some when you started?

Thanks Volvolugnut ! The metal was all intact. If you look at the second to last picture you can see the back end piece in the left background. It has the cutout for the trunk and the gas cap opening. It was all nailed and then leaded over those seams between panels. When I tore the old frame out, I found handwriting from the original builders on different pieces. Some of it was actually in German. I find that quite often in buildings as well. A very cool feeling / connection when I do.
