The front carpets are quite easy to remove, just undo the two front bolts, lift the seat a little and pull the carpet from there. Mine sits in the sunshine now, yes, another water leak in there - water was sitting for so long the foam started to smell the socks and it finally caught my attention. Only this time is not the usual water leak places, this time it's coming from the door seals - I hope this is the last place this cars leaks water. Oh and when pulling the carpet, keep it hanged up vertical so the water drains through the foam to the bottom, this way it will only take a few hot days to dry up.

A lovely late summer 87 today in MSO!

The carpets are surprisingly clean for 2004 I think. It has full factory mats. It just had an odd stale shampoo-y or perfume-y smell. My wife didn't even notice it.

Change of topic -

In my trunk next to the spare is this electrical connector. Is it a trailer connector? ..A lot of pins for that. Do I have a factory tow package but no hitch?

It's wired into the rear wall of the trunk.

Most likely it's the pre wired connection for the Trailer Module. It's not just a connector on the outside but a module if you install OE equipment.

Yesterday I went around to catalog the misc trim bits and plastic that are broken or missing. Not big issues, just want a list in my head if I run across a salvage yard car. I believe the PO left this car locked up in the sun in a parking lot for days on end, and out in the woods hiking. Sun damage, dust everywhere.

First off, trying to eliminate clunks and rattles. Does anyone have one of these big threaded plastic bolts that fit in the floor of the trunk? Maybe that's a salvage yard piece. What other ways are you holding down your jack? This one looks like it's never been out of the trunk.
IMG_2330.JPG

There must be a plastic cover over the hot power connection at the engine fuse box. There's a plastic hinge there.
IMG_2335.JPG

This rubber seal goes across the nose at the leading edge of the hood.
IMG_2336.JPG

Missing latch at the right rear access hatch.
IMG_2337.JPG

The very handy cargo tray under the rear floor must have some twist locks at each end at these holes.
IMG_2338.JPG

Rear door screw cover.
IMG_2339.JPG

Somebody must have put their hot tea kettle here on the rear floor hump. Or that's the mast step. Odd.
IMG_2341.JPG

Is there a headrest missing here? Or was that an option accessory thing?
IMG_2342.JPG

Must be some buttons at the ends of the console box hinge..?

This is pretty.....

The rings in the floor in the rear are part of the optional rear bottle/thermos holder and/or garbage bag holder that folds out from the rear of the console. I'm guessing the floor mat part is present regardless of if the holder is fitted.

I've got the same jack holder but mine is whole. Keeps the spare wheel in place too. Works well and keeps everything tied down and silent.

Wow, your car is missing a lot of small plastic bits. If you can get to a junkyard nearby that's probably your best bet.
Cover for the plus terminal (this one is semi important), hinge cover for center arm rest, twist lock for cargo area side panel, twist locks for cargo tray etc.
ALL of these cars had center headrests in the rear by the way, that was not an option.

99' S70, base, 5-speed manual, nautic blue/ tan, 225k miles, currently inop

79' Ford Capri S, Euro Spec 2.8 V6, T9 5-speed manual, owned since 1986
58' Porsche Diesel Junior
13' Honda Odyssey
84' Mercedes 300 D, gold/ tan, 420k miles (retirement project :D )

Agreed. And blaming the sun is just being nice to the PO. The exterior bits perhaps but not the interior, it doesn't really care about sun unless perhaps if you park in a desert for a couple of years.
