Particularly with electronics and electrical work where diagnosis is 90% of the job. That is why you want electrical issues done at a specialty shop. They got people that won't be fumbling around in the dark.

If it came down to something I didn't have the time to do or I ran out of patience to diagnose, I'd be more than happy to pay for diagnostics at a competent shop. But the key is competent... too many places have no idea what they're doing.

Labor around here is all over the place from what I've heard (but I wouldn't know ). I think my cousin says their dealer charges $185 an hour, or somewhere around there.

Did the dual mass flywheel, clutch/pressure plate, internal slave cylinder, a hydraulic clutch line, harmonic balancer, and replaced the right drive shaft and alllll the seals. It really drives like a new car, such a rewarding feeling
My son asked me what I think our (his) 08 C30 T5 would drive like with a new clutch :( . I told him don't worry as he drives it pretty gingerly so it would be awhile before replacing although we both know it is pretty worn  .

How long did it take you?

I definitely could've gotten by with the old set, but I think everything was original with over 200k miles. Plus I got a very good deal on a near new DMF and clutch assembly from a member on this site

Did it slow over 4-5 days but working mostly in a 90+ deg heat. I had one full 10 hour day with a friend, another 4-5 hours with that friend and probably another 6 hours by myself before/between/after work. I would've been faster if I kept better photos of the wiring and kept my tools more tidy.
Space, time, weather and memory  would keep me from tackling that for sure. Son is about to head off to school also so the car won't be around. Hope it will last him a couple of years.

So its been a few days since I re-assembled the AC system. I vacuumed down the system and have been checking the pressure periodically. It seems to be dropping 10 psi every 24hrs.

Let’s clarify.

It pumps down to about 28 inches of vacuum and is changing to 10 inches of vacuum

Or

Are you monitoring charge pressure ?

In the first case the system should hold 28 inches vacuum for as long as you monitor it

In the second, the conditions are paramount importance. The static system pressure is a notoriously unreliable indicator of conditions.

So I pump it down to -28inHg. I left the gauge connected. The next day it read -20inHg, then -10inHg the following day. So then I tried pulling -28inHg and disconnecting gaues and checked again the next day. It was back down to -20inHg. I'm now going on a leak hunt.

It could also be the gauges or connections. Mine lost a little bit of vacuum after only 15 minutes when I vacuumed and charged my system last year after an evaporator replacement, but as of now my AC is still ice cold.

Try this tomorrow. Pull it down to 28 inches, then close the low pressure manifold valve at the hard line.
Let sit overnight or two nights

Turn the vacuum back on but leave the valve closed at the car. Listen to the sound the vacuum pump makes as it pumps out the soft yellow line again, let it pump that out for 10 minutes

Now open the hard line valve And listen to see if the pump is working again

At vacuum....whirrrrrrrrrrrrr
Pulling air......wuckwuckwuck
