Coulda been a small fun new Alfa Spider, but nooo!
This was over 10 years ago now - designed by Pininfarina, inspired by the '66 Duetto Spider.

A friend has a 1967 Lotus Elan. Got it in rough shape but he has it running well. Fairly fragile fiberglass - even the bumpers are fiberglass painted silver, not chrome. "Add lightness" - Colin Chapman
It was raced in SCCA in New England from new, never registered on the street until recently. Came with some trophies and records, dash has period Watkins Glenn plaques.
These cars are very tiny. Short, narrow, very light. Tall backbone chassis up the center with a "Y" at front and back to carry engine and suspension. The floor is just sitting on outriggers - you have zero side protection. Lotus Ford twincam aluminum engine with twin Weber carbs.
Funny - no rollcage or bar required on this flimsy fiberglass car in 1967?

Chris Harris loves this Alfa.....
These guys build a really tight car. They've been prepping and racing them for many years, two generations. Steering wheel's on the wrong side though........
