i got caught up in the excitement and was looking to buy or at least bid on a wagon listed.
i was about to put in a bid and while reading the fine print it said something about registering the car before it leaves the lot.
I live in PA, how do i go about registering the vehicle without having to drive to DC and back a few times?

Any insight?

Thanks

The post lacks context; which car, which auction location, and where did you see that information ?
In all the years I've been dealing with the company, I've never had to register a car before loading it out of the lot.
If you are talking about buying a car blind in an online auction, slapping a tag on it, and driving home...I am fearless but it would never occur to me to do such a thing.
You do have to register to bid. Payment details are shown for each location; there is an in-person option in DC, PA and NH, but not Temple Hills. If there are special circumstances on an individual lot it says so in the auction notes at the bottom of the listing.

I assumed since i put driving back and forth from PA to DC it would be evident that i was talking about the MD/DC auction.

I am not a dealer.

It states in their terms that the vehicle must be registered before leaving the lot.

i must go and pay, then receive the title then go and then have proof of registration and insurance to be given the pass to remove from the yard.

i saw somewhere in this thread that someone had the paperwork sent to them.

As for the auction, yesterday there was a pretty good looking red xc70 that went for $850 that i would went to at least a grand on.

There was nothing obvious in the first post, that's why I suggested clarification.
I have been buying from Capital Auto and Truck Auctions for decades as an individual; between myself and my long time partner we have bought hundreds of cars and trucks. I bought a '98 V70 T5 a few days ago. It is sitting in my back yard, along with seven others. Not one of those cars or trucks has ever been titled and registered before we transported them from any Capital lot.
I can't find any mention of the 'terms' you cited, perhaps you could copy and paste that paragraph so we can all learn from your experience.
This is all I could find:
https://www.capitalautoauction.com/faqs
As I clearly mentioned above, the idea of blind bidding on a car at any online auction and planning on actually driving it home from the lot - no matter how far that drive - is not something I would ever do, nor would I suggest anybody else do, either. If that is your plan, then you would certainly need a license plate to do that, and the gate at Capital Temple Hills is manned by an off-duty Prince George's County uniformed officer.
You will have a very hard time convincing me you know more about this than I do.

I bought a v70 from a private guy who got a temp plate for me fro:his local DMV office, even though I was out of state. You could probably do the same to try the drive out approach, but I, too , am a risk taker , but would not go that route. Firefox31 pulled that off

The Department of Motor Vehicles in most states - and I presume in the four Commonwealths - have a method for issuing a temp tag for transporting from out of state. In DE they skip the paper tag route and issue a hard plate, but the title is held and transfer doesn't happen until after VIN inspection. Capital uses FedEx Overnight to send titles and bills-of-sale; the paper for the T5 I just bought arrived at the house before the car did.
I have not set foot in the main office in DC in well over ten years. The only reason I spent time on the ground in Temple Hills was a few years ago to help my partner with a difficult load.
Capital handles donations from dozens of charities in all three areas, and they got their reputation back before IRS changed the rules on tax deductions, when book value was used. Now it is restricted to actual sale price. The truth that I have observed over all these decades - then as now - is that people don't give away good cars.
As I have stressed many times on the fora, this is a sport best played on home turf. Pretending a charity donated car can be driven any distance from the storage lot is Magical Thinking.
