Worked for my 2005 V70 2.5T
1) Make sure doors are closed
2) Hold in the trip odometer reset
3) Turn key through positions I and then II,
4) Hold there and when the message goes away,
5) turn the key off.
6) Take key out of ignition. Put key back in and start car to verify reset worked.

Hello, I tried as many of the combos and am having ZERO luck! My task if a little more complicated by the fact that the car is a XC70 2007 and has a "proximity" key, so I dont have a position one and two! I just have the key in my pocket and the door will open. I press a starting button with my foot on the brake to start.
Any ideas as to how to reset it on this model?

for the 2001 - 2007 volvo models to shut the service light
1. turn key to position I
2. press odometer button and while doing so turn the key to position II
3. hold odometer button until hazard triangle in center of dash flashes when this occurs release the button.
4. go ahead and start the car and the light should be off.
for the new 2008 volvo xc70 with the push button start [just turned my light off tonight after hitting 14,000 miles]
1. start the car. the time for regular maintenance light will appear.
2. press the button to shut the car off, the time for regular maintenance light should still be on the screen.
3. breifly press the start/stop button, the dashboard will become brighter and the service light will still be on. [you are now in position I]
4. press the odometer button first then quickly press and hold the start stop button until all the idiot lights appear, when this occurs you can release the start stop button.
5. while still holding the odometer button wait until the orange Information icon flashes, when this occurs release the odometer button and you will here an audible signal that the reset has occured.
on both vehicles your radio station presets will be lost after this reset so if you have any stations you like write them down before hand.

I have a 2007 Volvo S60R and my "Time for Regular Service Message" light is on.
I have tried the following method:
1. Turn key to Pos I and hold the trip odometer button
2. Turn key to Pos II and waited for the "audible beep"
3. Turn the key to the "off position"
When I turn the key off I get a number in the message window of something like "045". When I turn the key back on I get the same message of "Time for Regular Maintenance". My oil change was about 1,000 miles overdue so it has been changed but still no luck with the light.
Any ideas?? Please help!!

I have an 07 S60 and just did this a few days ago. I think it will be the same as the S60R version.
The trick here is in the timing. Same with the diagnostic trouble codes and other such things. With these Volvo systems, its always a finicky timing issue.
My car did not have an audble beep.
To clear mnine, I turned to position-I, held the odometer reset button, once the triangle blinked let go of odometer button and turn key off.
It took me about three tries.
