The procedure from Vida for B4 replacement is floating around on various posts about this transmission as a PDF. The rest is pretty intricate and involved. It would be a great write-up if all 3 could be in the repair database as one topic.xHeart wrote:Mike, is there a write-up for above three?precopster wrote:It had undrivable behaviour prior to B4 servo, fluid reset and adaptives.

Valve Body / Linear Solenoids: (I followed this procedure, but replaced the solenoids without removing the valve body.)

Me again lads
Took the Volvo for a longish run today on A roads and dual carriageways/motorways, full load my wife and two large sons, say 800 lbs. Usual thing, exceed 53 mph in (D)rive and hey presto into limp mode. So I decided to try and trick my trannie so to speak. I pulled over and reset the error codes with my hand held scanner and set off again. The general open road speed limit is 60mph over here, so I brought the car up to 50mph say 1900 rpm on the flat and set cruise control. I then raised the speed to 60mph by using the cruise control's '+' key on the wheel. Having driven for maybe 60 miles under all conditions but just using the cruise controls buttons on the wheel to adjust the speed the trannie was flawless. Sometimes I'd pass through built-up areas and drop to 20->30 mph, hit the cruise re-engage and the car would slide through the gears (maybe hit 3500 plus rpm on inclines) and get me back to my selected speed of 60mph. How strange is this ? And what does it mean. I'm home now (obviously) and the car is still in normal transmission mode having given it this reasonably strenuous workout.
Any ideas guys, might it be a gas pedal position sensor or something ?
Thanks

I know this thread is a couple of years old however were you able to replicate the lack of faults on the transmission when using only cruise? Interesting set of symptoms if so.
