Received my ABS via Matty Moo yesterday (thanks for the fast service!).
Going to attempt to remove and install ABS later tonight.

Still waiting for fuel pump relay fuse. I must have chosen the really long free shipping option.

Haven't touched ABS yet since fuel pump relay came in and I installed it yesterday. Car died idling at stop lights today.
I will replace ABS with loaner when I can get to it this weekend.

Okay, keep the faith. Get that small socket wiggled up onto those bolts a far as you can before you start turning them.

Update:
I just finished removing my ABS module and replacing it with the loaner ABS. Took a test drive and all seemed to be fine. I pulled over to side of road, put in in park, let it idle for a few. Never died. Put it back in drive again and after a few minutes of cruising, I let off the gas while making a turn and wham, steering wheel locked up, lights on panel lit up, and I had to pull over. I put it in park and started it back up again and drove home. So it seems that the problem is on idle or at a stop.

What now?

When the steering "locked up", you mean it got very hard to steer? When all of the dash lights come on, that means that the alternator belt stopped turning the alternator. The engine either died or the serpentine belt stopped moving.

Because you were able to restart, did all of the dash lights go out after restart? The car acted normally the rest of the way home?

Check the battery cables, if one of them is loose...

Yes, it becomes VERY difficult to steer. Yes, all lights are out after restart. Yes, the car acted normal on the way home.
Battery cables look fine but will recheck.

I'll track down all the grounds on my 1999 for reference,

Are all your CEL codes gone ??

That EVAP code probably means a vacuum leak which we have to find and fix..

Stay with us!!!
