Yes sir, I looked it up. Ridiculously simple. Just pop the plastic cap off, take the old one out and put the new one in. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to clean it up as best as I can why i'm in there...

Volvo women are awesome. Welcome to MVS, Christi.

~ ~ ~

I think we've got a robust set of parts delivery methods and (thank you!) donors. Many tossing their hat in the ring for this. I'm so proud of this community.

Now the problem is getting word of this to those in need. I've stickied the posts about this program on MVS Home, MVS FB, and of course here in the forum. I haven't heard anything yet from anyone needing a part.

I'm considering spending $50 or $100 of the FDPP money on FB ads to help get the word out.

We've heard from our first Volvo owner in need of help. Naturally, s/he will remain anonymous.
  • Everybody who requests help under this program will remain anonymous.
  • Please don't provide help with this request here. The user or I will start a proper, discrete thread for this. I'm just putting this down here so that those who can help can check if they have an ETM, or to prepare wisdom to help with followup diagnosis questions.
  • One more thing before I detail this parts request, please don't use this thread for extraneous conversation about something else. Please stay on topic here.
Here it is:
Ive been to three of the main pick and pays in my area, and not one S (or V) 70 thats compatible. Thanks to Covid-19 putting a stormcloud over my inclme, its beckme impossible for me to afford a Xemodex treatment...i have a 2000 S70 in need of a yellow label throttle body. Ive been told by some it must be coded to the vin in order to work. Ive also been told by others that as long as the labels match, the car will run...however, i haven't found a compatible throttle body to even try, so this could be the blessing my car and i have been needing since February. My pockets that resemble "rabbit ears" thanks all that are involved in this charitable miracle..

Can you get "label" info from requestor? Model / part number off the current ETM? Any of us out looking may stumble across it, pun regarding failing ETM only intended after the fact. At the very least, Base, 2.4 LPT, or T-5
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Yes, the person will need to provide the year and engine. For the most part, the ETMs differ depending on 5/6 cylinder and turbo/NA. 1999-2001 are all compatible (provided it's the same engine) and 2002 is a "special" year with a different PN.

...and they don't need to be programmed  . I wish people would stop putting that in peoples' heads!
