More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.

State growth rates for April 4, 2020.

For your information, the top 5 states yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are Delaware, US Virgin Islands, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana.

The states much followed a couple weeks ago with outbreaks, now have lower growth rates. In growth rate number, New York now ranks 35 in states list, New jersey at 22, California at 33 and Washington state at 42.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.133 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.14.

I'm in greater DFW area in Texas. I was out yesterday and had to pick up a part at a Ford dealer. I was masked and gloved and went in where I found a stripe on floor at parts counter and a counter man doing things at a long arms reach. He had to read something on my phone to give me the correct price and I held phone at arm's length and he read it from a distance. Then two salesmen passed through doing some horseplay and were in contact sort of wrestling. Some get it, some don't. When I went to the car i laid the part on ground and sprayed it off with 91% alcohol. I took off my zip up hoodie and sprayed it. I sprayed glove and effectively washed my hands with them on and then took them off and sanitized my bare hands. everything was put in the cargo area as I finished processing it. I then removed mask and sprayed it with alcohol and then sanitized my hands once more. I walked around and put the mask in right front floor. As I walked around the car to get in I see at least 6 people in show room window shoulder to shoulder looking at me. The community I was in is one with one of the highest case count increases for TX and a few deaths. No way this is ending any time soon as far too few are behaving like they want to be sick with it.

Jimmy57, it's worse here in Jacksonville! It's only been a couple of days since the lockdown and only now I see masks on some, bandana on one women's face, but nobody keeps their distance.

I had to go to Target for a replacement electric kettle I could not get delivered in less than a month and BJs for a DOGGY rotisserie chicken. Unfortunately every 5th day I have to get him a chicken. Target delivered to my trunk, but BJs (Abscate keep those thoughts clean! ) it's a place like Sam's or Costco. I go when Google says # of shoppers are at a lull and get in and out, while everyone else seems to be meandering around touching everything!

Unfortunately not everything can be delivered in the modern world... back in the old days everything was delivered including groceries, and dry cleaning at least until about 1983 or 4 where I lived. I sure miss the Borden milk man in Tampa and Coleman milk man in Little Rock. Dairy products used to taste so much better when delivered fresh, to those of you too young to have lived then. June

We make a periodic weekly trek to local grocery. They have tape marks on the floor for waiting in line. We keep it simple, get what we need. We eat a lot of leftovers and fresh produce.

Ace Hardware has lexan screens screwed to brackets on the check-out counters. You pass your purchases under a gap at the bottom. The card chip reader is on the outside of the screen; the checker never touches your card. I think out Target has put up the same kind of clear screens at their checkout.

Our neighborhood Dairy Queen closed last week. (#SAD FACE) They had chalk circles on the sidewalk for where to stand. No ice cream for you!

Lots of walkers in our neighborhood, a lot of strollers, and a lot of doggo walkers. I assume those dogs used to get left at home during the day, and now they're getting regular walks. Parents in yards playing with little ones, it's kind of nice. At 8:00 each night, people go out and bark and howl in tribute to front line healthcare workers. I thought, no one will actually do that... But no, the whole neighborhood is barking, and the dogs get going as well! It feels like a nice neighborhood connection with people.

I read that in Vancouver BC people downtown are cheering and banging pots from their balconies at the 7:00 hospital shift change.

This is Venice CA. I shop for groceries once every 2 weeks for wife + I. Whole foods lets only x number of people in at a time so you stand outside in a long distanced line to get in. Masks on everyone pretty much. No bags allowed in. Everyone keeps their distance inside. Once I get in my car with the groceries I sanitize my hands, the car door handle, the car keys, everything I touched with my hands + the hands. Once home (a boat in marina) my wife wipes all groceries that needs to go inside, eg refrigerator, with sanitary wipes. The rest of the groceries stay out on deck for a number of days before being allowed in. Once or twice a week we order take-away food, similar precautions with the wiping down of the boxes and so on. Our son's 21st birthday was last Friday but because he isn't careful enough, we only spoke with him at a 6 foot distance when he came to pick up his birthday present (an electric base guitar), off the pavement where we had put it. Then he took off in his 2008 Volvo C70.

Has anyone been looking at whats going on in Italy very recently?

I don't have the link but they are flattening out apparently and I read that while they are reporting over 100k cases they are beginning to think there are actually 5 million or more ! so possibly a huge number with no symptoms walking around and getting towards a herd immunity level possibly

They also think they have gotten the transmission rate to 1 from 3 or more earlier and hope to get it below 1 soon. if each person infects less than 1 new person then things will really improve
