This is a casual observation, not scientific, but it appears that typical response in any area is slow initial spread, then rapid growth without any restraint of social distancing, etc. Later, when local governments realize things are going badly, nonessential business and social contact is limited. Then, after a couple to a few weeks of friction on spreading, the growth rates decline.
It appears most areas have to learn this lesson for themselves. We all tend to believe it won't happen here.

Very good news. The Seattle field hospital in the events center came down after going unused... more anecdotal good news.

^ This. Kansas will be hurting in a week. They removed their max 10-person religious gathering mandate for the big Easter weekend coming up.

That was split along party lines. The Kansas GOP did it.

Democrats want to keep their constituents alive. The GOP wants to send them to God sooner so they can get on with their higher priority ... money not people.

I've been using this website to track world trends. It's a privately managed site, however I think it reflects the WHO figures https://covid19info.live

Interesting that most of the countries with unmanageable infection spikes are also the ones who were late in catching on about shutting down non-essential social contact businesses ie restaurants, cafes, social clubs, casinos, sport events, church mass.

Of course the population density in places like New York must present a whole new challenge for curbing infection rates.

Some country's presidents believe that drinking vodka, going to a sauna and doing farming will take care of the problem

Gov Kelly has revised her EO: Apr 7, 2020

Executive Order No. 20-18, temporarily prohibiting mass gatherings of more than 10 people to limit the spread of COVID-19 and rescinding Executive Order 20-14. See items 1. c in each PDF

"Richard Levy, a constitutional law professor at the University of Kansas, pointed to a 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that laws that don’t specifically target or single out religions for adverse treatment are generally deemed valid, even if they incidentally burden religious freedoms or practices."

In US, each state will have their laws, and states can submit their data to CDC, if they choose. Consequently, one must verify who is submitting data to a given website. Moreover, when medical examiners are filing paperwork, they may not check the Covid-19 box unless they know for certain. I read recently NY might be marking this box without verification.

Lastly, there is no standardization from state to state: Poor state reporting hampers pandemic fight - state health departments already have most or all of the relevant data. Unfortunately, they don’t make it available in ways that provide a clear picture of what’s happening.

After the Kansas GOP overturned 10-14.

Governors and presidents are supposed to follow the law. They are administrators not legislators. There are some that think they are kings, lords and dictators that are above the law. Obviously Kelly is not one of them.
