I've long been a fan of the two stroke Lawnboys from the late '70's-early "80's. Over the last 25 years my collection has grown to about 20 mowers, all running in various stages of disrepair. My wife thinks I'm a lawnmower hoarder but it seems a shame to let these wonderful machines go to scrap as these eco-evangelists guilt those of us with two stroke or even four stroke gas lawnmowers to turn them in and replace them with a plastic battery powered lawnmower. I've sourced out enough NOS LB parts to restore my favourite one; a 21 inch self propelled 1978 model 8237 rear bagger, and rebuild the F-series engine in my "daily driver" which is a 1979 19 inch model 5247 side bagger. With very few pending jobs to do on the XC 70, I can start the restoration on these two beauties..........and use up my leftover tube of anaerobic sealant from my recent oil pan removal.

Not sure what kind of grass it is, I get carried away with the fertilizer and spray it with the hose whenever the dogs pee on it so I don't get spots. Abscate's right about the mosquito fogging as well, the mufflers are on the bottom on the old Lawnboy's.

Lawn projects are slowing down; overnight temps are hovering around low 50s, but awesome day time temps.
I'll upgrade from 40 years old TIMCO to WILLIAMS top-vented wall heater. I may replace entire B-Vent set up; gas line must be up to the code too.

We spent the morning stripping English ivy from our backyard. We want to seed with low grass to create a second tier of yard. Hard work. Quote was $1800 to remove it. Not sure we went the right route but 4 hours, 1/2 done

Removing English Ivy is easier than Creeping Charlie. This is your best time to put down a mix of cool season grass seeds; starter fertilizer, the temps, moisture, and light rain will help it germinate just right. Winter fertilizer (aka winterizer) in late October, and then another dormant seeding (overseeding) before first snowfall will bring you a joyful spring.

It take few seasons for cool season grass to spread naturally and get the turf fully developed. Your cool season lawn with seasonal fertilizers will keep you smiling at nature. Colors in your yard become heavenly.

Have you considered a heat pump system. They can be very efficient. No gas bills.
