Connect your iPod to your 850, S70, V70, XC70

Hi,

Not sure if this conversation moved on from the last entry? What was the outcome, what's the best way to connect an iPod to a CR-906 radio?

I've tried the old tape adapter to iPod, but the auto-reverse kicks in all the time and it's really annoying...

I noticed that ipd makes an iPod adapter that looks easy to install and charges the iPod.

Has anyone tried this?

Also, the ability of the newer Volvos to control the iPod using the controls on the steering wheel sounds great. How hard would it be to install a newer steering wheel and radio to my car so I could have this functionality on my 1999 V70 R AWD?

It's the USA-Spec adapter with DVD instructions.

damn 199 is expensive, all you have to do is buy a universal FM transmitter, they r only 20 to 50 dollars. I have Port Authority2 transmitte rit cost 30 dollars and it is wireless. THe sound is really good.

I finally decided to replace the old Volvo 810 head unit in my 850 wagon. I bought a JVC KD-HDR1 CD receiver with built-in HD Radio tuner and MP3/WMA playback along with a JVC KSPD100 iPod Adapter. My old head unit was beginning to have difficulties holding stereo signals, not to mention that it was an AM/FM cassette deck.

The new JVC unit is an HD FM receiver with an aux plug in the back which allows you to incorporate a variety of inputs - satellite radio, an amp, an mp3 player, or their iPod adapter.

The JVC KSPD100 iPod Adapter comes with enough cable to easily reach the center console storage compartment if you want to run a hidden line. The adapter recharges the iPod as well as using the receiver as the iPod controller. It also comes with a small remote which will also control the receiver.

All in all, I am very pleased with the new head unit. Since it is smaller than the Volvo unit, I gained a small cubby hole under the receiver for more storage. The iPod function is excellent with no loss of sound quality as can happen with the FM modulators. I can plug my iPod in, leave it in the center console storage, and it charges and plays through the receiver.
