I found my way around the roadblock through some interesting little roads and finally a field! That was a serious Volvoing experience... June

I couldn't photograph the hairpin turns and drive. I could only photograph the curves. From my understanding hairpin turns are U shaped 180° turns? Definitely ran into a few in North Arkansas. June

Your little friend just adores you, June. I know that look. I had a longhair mini Dachsund for 15 years up to about 2 years ago. Anytime I packed a suitcase, or asked him "Do you want to go for ride?!" if I let him out he'd waddle straight out to the car and park it outside the drivers door and wait to go. After about 10 minutes he'd start getting 'impatient' if I didn't either leave (with him) or pick him up and take him back into the house.

Fair point :D

180 degrees and somewhat sharper than the end of a NASCAR-circuit.

Roads were marked with the sign like in this photo. I found if I started the turn at 40 mph in second gear accelerating through the turn the car tended to accelerate to 70mph by the other end. I thought I would clarify that. It was great fun! Also quite surprising to me. One other factor was the road conditions of the surface was excellent. June

Unfortunately I recieved a call he is returning early so I am headed back to Jacksonville. I was on my way to Graceland before being diverted home. Actually I was on a neat old dirt road on a tall hill! This trip has been fun and my old Volvo has performed admirably. Now in Louisiana headed for Mississippi. Also saw a neat turtle and crop duster plane.
