Side note : According to the Mayo Clinic, 70% of Americans take at least 1 med a day. For folks like me ( 65+ ) it's up to 4 a day.
We did not used to live like this. And most of the world still doesn't. So all I can come to is " Follow the Money ".

Totally understand where you are coming from. That being said, removed cholesterol, blood pressure and reduced diabetes meds by 1/3 after a natural med doctor who also practiced Chiro for 16 years provided the proper combo of this company's products. Although the products are great it is the docs ability to diagnose the issues. Dad had been on those for over 15 years. Now he is close to Stage 0 for his age and health is maintained by eating more fruits and veg. Will be 90 in a couple of days.

Yep. Maximizing the good stuff while minimizing the bad does go a long way toward a healthy life. And without much in the way of pills and needles.

I'll post a relevant book in the " Good Reads " thread.

I make a Vitamix full of smoothy almost everyday so two large water bottle full.

Kale, mix greens, banana, Costco frozen blue berries and mixed fruits. Variations include avocado, whole lime, whole lemon, apple and pears. Sometimes trail mix but always with honey and turmeric powder. Added one or two meals it's not bad overall. I need to do better on Costco hot dog and soda once a week and the foot long subs from the local market and the little snacks, no cakes, ice cream or sweets in general :D .

It's so touch too eat right and well.

For what it is worth, AARP magazine had an article on eating well recently. They had unusual advice to eat 30 different kinds of fruits and vegetables each week. According to this, if you eat a multigrain slice of bread with 8 different grains, that counts as 8 different grains for the week. According to the article, if you eat many of the same fruit and vegetable foods every day, you are not getting the full benefit as you would with a large variety.

I have to go grocery shopping later today so I will keep all of this in mind. Basically I think that if you avoid processed foods and refined sugars you will, over time, do much better health wise. Frankly I think soda pop was one of the worst things ever created.
Nothing more than liquid sugar in a can. Remember that guy, Morgan Spurlock, and his " Super Size Me " experiment ? Wake up call !

Take the data for per capita sugar consumption and chart it. Do the same for per capita obesity. Overlay the two charts they are a perfect match. The low fat craze is the results of misinformation published by the sugar industry. Sugar is the root cause of obesity not fats.

The reason there is so much sugar in foods now is because when the fats are taken out, food taste like cardboard. Sugar is the only economical thing that could add some flavor back in.

What the sugar industry did to the people may be legal but it is still criminal.

This is the kind of thing that happens when incorporated persons have the right to lie.

The low fat food campaign might have been the most successful consumer misinformation effort in the history of the world.

50 Years Ago, Sugar Industry Quietly Paid Scientists To Point Blame At Fat.

They found the proof in the archives in of bankrupted and out of business Great Western Sugar Company.
