The "easy" way to do that would probably be to put it in "service position" and remove the whole front end. Simple!

I'm getting ready to shim the compressor clutch on the xc90 and it looks extremely tight. I dont even know if I can do it without unbolting the whole compressor. At that point I could shim it the proper way.

Added another Volvo to the collection today... my buddy's '05 S60R. He had a drunk lady hit his door in a parking lot a few weeks ago, and insurance totaled it. He was in the market for an X5 anyway, so naturally he sold the car to me!
I really want to save it, but it really makes the most sense at this point to part it out. It hurts a little bit, but it's for the best. It would need a LOT of work to bring it up to my standards (FourC is shot, some tune issues to work out, lean condition I couldn't figure out) so it just makes more financial sense. It's a slick top M66 SaphKap, so it's a rare one. I don't think I've ever personally seen another slick top R.
So if anyone needs P2R stuff, lemme know!

Yeah, I'm not sure if you can do it without removing the compressor. All you can do is hope you can angle it so you can work on it without disconnecting the hoses. I hate AC stuff lol.

Well at least they make it somewhat easy, everything looks to be removed in one piece.

Pulled insurance off my 98 V70 AWD yesterday, noticed my front left outer cv boot just ripped, had grease all over rim and fenderwell. I have a replacement already, but I have been wanting to drop my rear subframe for awhile now to replace a daily left fuel sender. May as well jump in and do it now I guess.

Hey, I'm doing that now! Except I'm not putting the AWD subframe back in...
Exhaust came down yesterday, now today I'm hoping to be able to finish the job now that I have a second and third set of hands at my disposal. The only thing I may have to get from the JY is the fuel line from the filter to the engine bay, I just want to confirm the regulator setup I'll need. Of course, the '98 line I have will not work due to the different connection at the engine, as well as a totally different regulator. Fortunately, I have a FWD 2000 turbo on my driveway that I can check out to see what I need. There's a '99 Denso car at the yard right now (actually was my cousin's old S70, the guy he sold it to appeared to have wrecked it) but I'm not sure if the regulator is the same on NA and turbos for '99-'00.
I'll try to take some pics of the delta link swap process and put that in its own thread, but I have a habit of forgetting pics.

Enjoyed a recovery ride with Caitlin after my ManBeetle had its first flat bed tow in its history. Actually , my first flat bed tow in history!
Post Mortem to follow , but I think the Creator sent Saint Humility to slap my face on my rear brake job last month on this car. I had trouble with two of the caliper bolts, and got the wrong ones, and used alternate hardware.
I’m guessing one of the calipers got loose, snagged the alloy, locked the wheel up at 75 mph, took out the brake rotor, alloy, tire, a piece of rotor flew over and took put the other tire.
I felt a slight Rear vibration in Buffalo 70 miles earlier which suddenly got worse, then 10 seconds later , BOOM!
So trip report.
Buffalo at 0700 mile 420
Roadside mile 370
Picked up by AAA 0830
Dropped car at SELECT euro vw in Waterloo, NY by 0930
Caitlin arrives 1130 in Evita
Back to ALB by 1500
Get in the P2 by 1530 to try ca5ch the 1800 ferry...that’s close
Zoom zoom park 1752, board ferry 1759
Port Jeff at 1915
Dinner.

Quite the eventful day!
Speaking of eventful, the multilink rear end is out. Delta link is mounted, and I'm happy to report everything lines up perfectly, and they do in fact share some mounting locations. So far, the ONLY thing that will not be able to be used is the heat shield that attaches to the body above the muffler. I'll come up with a temporary solution, since I'd like something there, but I plan to go with an aftermarket exhaust before too long, so that won't be a big deal.
