Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Three weeks ago, my 215k mile, 2000 V70 XC dumped it's oil in my work parking lot, all over the back of my car on the way home, and then again all over my driveway after I got it home. I replaced the following over the past two weekends while chasing down my leak:
front crank seal
oil pump gasket and o-ring
water pump and gasket
timing belt
entire PCV system (because it thought it may be clogged and causing the pressure to push past the seals)
front cam seals (intake and exhaust)
front cam o-rings (exhaust)
engine oil dipstick (because I broke it while putting the manifold back on hahahaha)
oil cap seal
tensioner
idler
and only because they were in the PCV kit that IPD sells:
engine oil dipstick seal
injector o-rings
Previous to this work, the most I had ever done on a car beyond regular maintenance was rotors and pads. Thanks to this forum and youtube. lol

It's always fulfilling doing your own work, especially such extensive work! Nice work ryball, Put those good feelings in the bank so you are tolerant when P0455 pops for the 19th time.
I spent the morning opening and closing all my electrical connectors on my P2 and P80 with my new found knowledge.

Found a little rubbing of the fuel injector wires where they head over to the rail. Plan on hitting it with some die-electric grease so they can at least hopefully rub without wearing further. Only the insulation was somewhat compromised at this point.

Yesterday I replaced a window guide (roller) for the driver's window because from full down the window would go outside the frame going up. Fairly easy, the hardest part was installing the retaining clip. I also installed a door check because p/o had taken it off after it broke. On the 850 the left and right front door check is the same but install "upside down" from each other. The one I bought had an "R" stamped on the "up" side so I installed it with the "R" facing down. If yours isn't stamped, the spring is longer on one side than the other, the short side points up on left side installation. Put a zip tie on the floppy part that goes through the door to help position the door check inside the door cause it's a minor PITA to get in there right.

Skidded into a curb avoiding an accident on 9W, bent right front wheel.
Tire was losing air on rim. Popped it off, ran it over to Tom, straightened rim, reset bead with glue, back on road in 20 minutes.
Labarge in Albany NY - the best..

Added a quart of oil, removed untold inches of snow and ice to take a 40 mile trip to replace a server hard drive at 9 AM in the thick of crappy weather and even worse drivers. Another successful mission completed. Sadly I need to make the same trip for another next weekend - as communication is never as fast as hardware failures are.
This is what happens when your help desk is paid per ticket. They open a ticket for each little item, never create a master ticket, and take ZERO initiative. Then it gets submitted to the wrong groups in the wrong geographic location...
Thankfully, the Volvo takes less work and makes far more sense.
