She was a waitress in a sort of posh tavern in school. She'd park it out on the street, in the winter. Got off work at 2AM and of course it would never start in the cold. That was a major downfall.

What's a good source for new cotter pins? Big suspension bolts on my old car. NAPA?

I've had some surprisingly good luck at my local ACE. The one near me seems to have odd ball stuff that others don't. Probably because it's a bit rural. Maybe Tractor Supply if you have one.

We do! That's where I bought my garage heater. Our Ace is really good as well. They had to get bigger and do everything to fight off the box stores, and they're really good. Probably 15 or 20 red vest helpful people on the floor all the time.

I see references to plated cotter pins, and stainless.

Unless you have severe corrosion issues, use the plated steel cotter pins. Stainless steel will work harden and fail much faster than regular carbon steel. Cotter pins need to be a bit flexible.
Ace. NAPA. Tractor Supply all sound like good sources. I would not get the assortments from WalMart or the dollar store.
