OK I posted earlier and had to go back and read my own notes. I have a 2001 and a 2007 S60 and they are slightly different and there's all these subtle different variations in procedure.

So, I just did this five minutes ago and it is fresh in my mind:

Resetting the service reminder on a 2007 S60:
1. Put key in ignition but do NOT turn it
2. Press and HOLD odometer reset button
3. As soon as button is depressed, then Immediately turn key to position I (keep holding button)
4. Count to 4 "one-one-thousand....two-one-thousand...three-one-thousand.....four-one-thousand"
5. Turn key to position II (keep holding button)
6. Wait and watch for yellow triangle light to flash-about a 1 second wait (keep holding button)
7. RELEASE button
8. Immediately turn key to OFF

Took me a half dozen tries to get this again.

I have a 2006 S60. I don't know what worked for me. All I know is, I tried the first way (didn't work), the second way (didn't work), then some way in between (it worked). The thing is off now, and I had been staring at that message for YEARS.

Thanks.

On 2004 v70:

1) Key to Pos 1
2) Press and hold trip-o-meter reset button
3) Turn key to Pos 2
4) Continue to hold trip-o-meter reset button
5) Yellow triangle warning light (center of instrument cluster) will start to flash
6) Release trip-o-meter reset button, then turn key to off
7) Yellow triangle warning light will continue to flash for a while, even with key removed
8) On next engine start, reminder is gone.
1982 240DL: Drove it 32 years and 1.5 million miles (sold, even still had mint leather!)
2001 v70 2.4T: The most expensive $1500 car I ever bought ("Volvo Turbo" - what an oxymoron!) (sold)
2004 v70: Far less fatally-flawed v70 - It served well (sold)
2010 v50: Smaller, slightly sportier wagon. Its got a spoiler, so I upgraded with sway bars!

2007 V70 base (@94,400 mi.)
What I just did.
1) Pushed trip odometer button in
2) Inserted key and started car
3) Saw the triangle flash after 4 seconds
4) Released the odometer button while the triangle was still flashing.
5) Tested by restarting and the message was gone.

Next time I'll try to remember to do this without starting the engine.
My muscle memory made me start the engine.
