On the outrageous parts price topic, I just ordered some lightly used nivomats for the XC90 because new ones are $500 EACH! The rear suspension has sounded and felt awful, and the only thing I can find wrong is a leaking shock. I was expecting to find some excessive play in some bushings, but found nothing abnormal.

It looks like a bad casting, to me.... or maybe a damaged core if it was rebuilt? That sure would be frustrating. I don't have a turbo, but I can't imagine it being easy.

Yeah i'm guessing bad casting, at least I was relieved to find out I can use crush washers properly (spent an hour trying different ones in an attempt to get the damn thing to seal before seeing the issue

).

It wouldnt be hard if it wasnt for the terrible accessibility of some bolts, the coolant intake banjo being the worst offender.
At least this time I can leave the exhaust housing on the car and save myself a few bolts to undo

Yeah, the turbo on these cars is easy to replace compared to many other cars. My brother is in the process of replacing the turbos on his 335i... this is a MUCH more complicated process. To put it in perspective, the next step is to drop the subframe.
