40 hp more and the same torque over a wider range. That got to be for the most part the T4 software. I'm sure Volvo tamed down the T5 for a reason but, was it for environmental regulations, safety or reliability ....bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑11 Mar 2020, 09:06 It would probably handle it very well, it's a common upgrade for the R. You get the same head as the 4T4 with thicker cylinder walls to support the power and avoid cracked liners. Same forged rods as the 4T4 as well.
Volvo Findings! (What have you found on FB/Craiglist/Kijiii/other)?

It’s literally 15 miles from my home but I’m 1800 miles from either!

Unless you won't be home for 30 days and since you are so close, I'm sure the guy would hold it for you especially if you offer him an extra $50 being it's a great deal already,

They didn’t want the T5 to outperform the R, being their top model. The automatic R is torque limited to 258 rather than the full 300 lb. ft. in the manual version, and all T5s are rated at 260, I believe, so the R makes 40 more lb. ft.RickHaleParker wrote: ↑11 Mar 2020, 11:52 40 hp more and the same torque over a wider range. The double edged sword is that you have more power and AWD, but a weaker 83mm bore block. Why Volvo didn’t use the 4T5 in the R, I have no idea. Maybe they just thought that a 2.5 would make it sell better. Or that the larger displacement would make for more power... and it might, but that larger bore turned out to be that engine’s Achilles’ heel when making anything more than stock power. Hell, even with stock power I’ve heard of them cracking, but often times it’s less severe and they can be driven for a while before it’s even noticed.
Anyway, I think it’s just down to software. The 2.4 is a more than capable engine, it’s known to be the all around best 5 cylinder Volvo made due to the best of both worlds formula of smaller bore and longer stroke.

Looking seriously these days for the right P2 V70 in T5 or 2.5T. No AWD, 05-07 preferred. Thank you in advance for any heads-ups.
This 07 2.5T with 97k looked great until we noticed no heated seats: https://lincoln.craigslist.org/cto/d/se ... 90763.html

Yup, P2R wagons are overpriced. Nice to see it under $10k, but it's still an AW55 car... yuck!abscate wrote: ↑12 Mar 2020, 08:10Lot of bolted on bling but Ill bet this up for major suspension and engine workjreed wrote: ↑11 Mar 2020, 05:08 Some stunning plumbing.

Unfortunately I don't see the price on these dropping... it sucks, but it's a... gag... "collector car". Meanwhile you can pick up a similar condition S60R WITH an M66 for probably half that!
