They're enjoying the sun!
Mine has a system in the hot weather. He'll hang out with me in the garage and cool himself off on the floor, then walk over to the sun cot in the back yard and stretch out in the sun for a while. Then when he gets too hot, he comes back into the garage. The garage floor seems to be good enough to cool him off sufficiently, he won't come inside until he's hungry or it's nap time.
He's an all black cat, I don't know how he can stand lying in the sun on a 95 degree day, but he doesn't mind it!

On my way home from work, I filled up again.... more on that later. I was checking the oil, and the gas station attendant came out to look at my car. He commented that I had the cleanest engine compartment he'd ever seen (it's clean but there's cleaner) and was asking me about the car in general. He wanted to buy it, although didn't throw out any numbers. I told him I wasn't selling. This is a first for me with the Volvo. Usually it's my 69 Buick that draws attention.

I have been procrastinating since before we renovated and moved to this house about 3.5 years ago. On what?
Well I recently found an SC-901 head unit for sale along with the amp, connecting wire and a Dolby amp. I did not need any of this but always considered a Dolby amp was needed in the 'R'. Found this stuff on Craigslist in Vancouver.
Owner had bought to fit to his car but it ended up in an accident and written off so was never fitted.
He had bought the stuff off Ebay but had no idea if it worked but at least he had the radio code!
He decided he would ship it all to me for the price of shipping and then I could pay him what I thought it was worth once I had tested it all. Very trusting I have to say!
I have no way to test the Dolby speaker as I don't have one or the cable to connect the head unit the center dash speaker.
I don't like taking the radio out of the 'R' as I have modified the wiring for an Aux in cable and IPod connector. As there are so many wires behind my SC-900 head unit I am reluctant to remove it in case something gets damaged in the wiring.
As I had to do this test ASAP, I decided to see if I had any other amps un-tested kicking around so I could get them tested at the same time.
Going through the 'stash' I discovered 5 more amps un-tested and I'm sure there may be another somewhere that was tested!!
I'm convinced they are multiplying!!
Now I just have to do something similar with all the other excess 'spares' I have!
So tested the 'new' SC-901 after cleaning the cassette head as well as the CD-multichanger laser.
It all worked as it should and played with good sound. Then connected each of the other amps and ran them to check them as well so now have 6!!

After testing and having been previously cleaned, I have vacuum sealed the amps with x 2 mounting bolts and desiccant bags for storage. I also had to touch up some of the amp casings as the paint tends to flake off. When I was having a lot of stuff powder coated I used have the cases coated as well but I no longer have time or will for that.

Yes, maybe I should sell them before I get too 'Amp'd' up!!
I had no intention of keeping them, but when P80's were still a thing in our local junkyards, it used to make me mad and laugh in equal measures when people would pull the head units, especially the SC-900/901 which need an amp, and left the amp and cables as they took a little effort to remove the passenger seat to access. I used to sell them on or buy cheap SC-900/901 units locally that people bought and then discovered they wouldn't work and then see the whole kit!
I see Volvo still sell the amps, I am assuming new, for around $260 US which is way down on the close to $1000 of a few years ago.
Best part though is they are useless unless you have the harness! I looked on line for any for sale and they ranged from more than a new one to around $100 US (from the UK + shipping) but none had the cable you need so they are only of use to those who have an amp that fails!
Fortunately I think I have harnesses for all of mine!
