1995 Volvo 850 Oh yea, I can see how it would rust up in there. As far as the bolts go, my Hanes manual says to replace the control arm bolts (they get torqued and then turned an additional 120 degrees) but not the ball joint bolt (just torqued to 37ft-lb). Torqueing the ball joint bolt isn't that critical since the stud on the ball joint is held in by the shaft of the bolt (that's why it has to be removed to get the ball joint out). I would think the risk would be in unnecessarily over torqueing. Just purchased two control arms for my S70 and they came with new bolts for the arms but not a bolt for the ball joint.

Ask those folk who had lower control arm failures with re-used bolts in the ball joint..................! So far never heard of the strut or control arms breaking.

You need a new ball joint NUT on a P80 as it is an eccentric shaped locknut.

1995 Volvo 850 Just read your post from Jan 2020. FCP does sell the bolt and nut. Sounds like from the thread that if the bolt is removed you can reuse the bolt but not the nut?

Correction: The Meyle control arm comes with all 3 bolts and nuts.
