I had that same split on mine, a little smaller and with surprisingly little impact on performance. Didn't even notice it until I was digging around in there for something else.

Speaking of issues discovered while looking for something else, I discovered this freaky thing just now. Oil cooler hose rubbing against driveshaft. It's a noticeable divot on the hose, and the mark on the driveshaft looks fresh, so it's still happening. I replaced these hoses a few years back, so it seems to be a pretty slow burn-through, but I'm curious why it's happening. I'd guess this is happening when the engine is hot and the hoses are stiffening up, trying to straighten themselves out, and maybe only when, under acceleration, the engine rocks back towards the firewall.

Definitely needs replacement. I'm moving across the country in a few weeks and this may have just sealed the deal on me shipping this car and driving my Fiesta, rather than vice versa.

Jd...check your motor mounts to make sure nothing is loose. I wrapped My oil cooler hoses with exhaust bandage to protect them. That divot isn’t bad yet, those hoses are thick.

I might have my old ones as spares..let me know if you want them as backups.

I would take a P80 seat on a trip over anything else. Just did 600 miles round trip yesterday to drop the Big One at Bryn Mawr and pay my respects to Malcolm the cat

My oil cooler hoses have what I believe is aluminum heat shielding on them. (Adding that to the list of things to check/replace next)
Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

I ripped that Al shielding off and replaced with exhaust bandage and zip ties. I think I documented that here??

Those hoses come zip tied together- that might be what keeps them from hitting the right driveshaft on these cars - are yours tied together firmly?

Same thing happened with my cousin's T5. It was split like that too and it didn't have a big effect on performance.

I'd been meaning to replace my shock mounts ever since my brother and I installed new shock absorbers back when the weather was still warm. Saturday, I managed to snap both bolts on the left one with utmost efficiency. Sunday, I drilled and extracted them with a hammer. Of course, the coil spring popped out of its upper mount, so I had to undo the lower mount bolt to move it back into position. Replaced both M8 bolts and nuts.

The right shock mount took about 10 minutes to replace.

Good call, I'll get some insulation wrapped around it. I've used the bendy aluminum stuff before, to good effect. The hose will be replaced down the road, but right now I haven't got the time.

I did try zip-tying the two hoses together, but the offending one would just rotate back into its old position. What I really need is a fixed point that I can use to tie the hose back against the block.

That same split on mine caused a rough cold idle that would clear when warm.

Spent the last few evenings painting and assembling my drawer system. The drawers lock when you close them and are unlocked using the backlit buttons.

Edit: the grey paint matches the dashboard! I was amazed that it was possible to have a piece of dash trim 'scanned' and matched to closest out of many millions of colors!

Also got the center universal joint on the propshaft loose again by giving it plenty of WD40 and then drenching it in ATF.

My front brakes were shot. 3 years ago when I did my first brake work on the car, I ordered the wrong rotors (302mm). Finally got around to purchasing the larger caliper brackets. Did pads, rotors, and caliper brackets. I can also confirm that the bigger rotors will fit under Pleiads. When I was researching ages ago all I could find was a couple of, "It should work?" comments.
