Junkyard trips often run away with what you actually need when you see interesting and shiny parts!
I went there for the IP dimmer switch...(And maybe the interior bits for my wife's wagon). The past few 850's have just been "drivers" and not an "enthusiast's" car, so I wasn't expecting much.

If the exhaust wasn't crusty, I might've grabbed it. It was still a 15G, and it looked like and they cobbled together the fitment of the 3" DP and the rest of the exhaust was 3" back through a MagnaFlo muffler at the back. Not ideal, but might've been good for parts or for someone else needing/wanting one.
And as per Neil's last reply:
"You're gonna need bigger shelves"
:-)

That's my problem too although not all car parts lots of other stuff too.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Oh, all of the storage containing things for my various hobbies are waaaaay overflowing.

My car part storage isn't so much of an extra parts problem, but more of I need to get the parts on the cars I bought them for problem.

I practically have a warehouse full of parts at this point. A third of my shop is just parts
I guess that comes with the fact that it's what I do!

Today I continued efforts to assemble the fuel system (tank to fuel rail) for my 1987 244. Several (6? 8?) years ago I dropped the fuel tank because it had bad gas and gunk in the fuel tank. I had other projects and stuff going and never put it together. A could years ago the tank was boiled out and repainted. Now I am trying to find all the parts and put it together.
The in tank fuel pump has been cleaned and tested OK. The fuel pressure regulator was retrieved from the 1983 245 which 'borrowed' it a few years ago. The electric connectors to the fuel tank do not match. Maybe I changed in tank fuel pump assembly?
Some fuel hoses will need to be replaced and the main pump tested before installation.
This car was a good runner before the fuel system clotted.

Anecdote from port Jefferson PD as I work on SWMBOS E83 in the police station parking lot.

“ if you need any tools just ask any cop to radio Mario, he’s a real car buff”

I’m going to like it here.

No car work allowed in the rental garage , though I did slip in a brake job , wheel bearing, and pCV cleaning. That’s not car work, that’s maintenance.

That's awesome, gotta love the hospitality! Better than a sign saying "absolutely no working on cars in the parking lot."

.

Was going to bolt down the headlights and parking lights. Had lost it yesterday. That string is from the previous owner  . That same string was on the fuel door and cap . Now you know why I had to fix the fuel door . Really strong stuff.

In a word, ProCARstination ha ha.

Aren't we all guilt of that now and then though. I still need to do some touch up work on my cars paint and unfortunately now the weather is changing.
