These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
I am posting this information in the afternoon now (mostly). I try to do outdoor work in the cooler morning and indoor work in the afternoon.

State growth rates for June 7, 2020. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: Vermont (0.165) with 1063 cases, Oklahoma (0.119) with 7150 cases, Arkansas (0.113) with 9426 cases, Nevada (0.097) with 9649 cases, and Minnesota (0.095) with 27,886 cases. All states have reopened to various levels.

A column on the right shows the current growth rate divided by the 5 day moving average. No states or territories were over 2.0 yesterday (red highlight). Only Delaware was over 1.5 yesterday (yellow highlight). This column is an early warning of increasing cases beyond day to day noise.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.0168 for yesterday, down sharply from previous day of 0.0205. This is not population or case number weighted.

State growth rates for June 12, 2020. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: Hawaii (0.269) with 706 cases, Arkansas (0.222) with 11,547 cases, Oklahoma (0.201) with 7848 cases, Montana (0.172) with 573 cases, and Minnesota (0.151) with 29,745 cases. Montana, and Hawaii have few cases. All states have reopened to various levels.

The last time we had any growth rates for states and territories this high for any areas with case numbers over 1000, was May 21. Both Oklahoma and Arkansas had large increases in new cases. There is one exception to the previous statement. On June 6, Vermont had a growth rate of 0.436 with 1046 cases.

A column on the right shows the current growth rate divided by the 5 day moving average. Hawaii, and Nebraska were over 2.0 yesterday (red highlight). Arkansas, Connecticut, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, West Virginia, and US Military were over 1.5 yesterday (yellow highlight). This column is an early warning of increasing cases beyond day to day noise. It has been over a week since there were this many states and territories in the early warning column.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.0235 for yesterday, up sharply from previous day of 0.0204. This is not population or case number weighted. This is the highest USA growth rate since May 21 when it was .0250.

I have reviewed all US states for the COVID-19 statistics. I have color coded the results. This data is for June 12, 2020. Results may change over time.

First, I sorted all states by their number of COVID-19 tests per million of state population. Red for 0 to 49,999 tests per million, orange for 50,000 to 74,999 tests per million, yellow for 75,000 to 99,999 tests per million, and green for 100,000 and up tests per million.

Next, I sorted again using total number of cases per million of state population. Red for 10,000 and up cases per million, orange for 5,000 to 9,999 cases per million, yellow for 2500 to 4,999 cases per million, and green for 0 to 2499 cases per million.

Then, I sorted again using total number of deaths per million of state population. Red for 800 and up deaths per million, orange for 400 to 799 deaths per million, yellow for 200 to 399 deaths per million, and green for 0 to 199 deaths per million.

Last, I sorted again using total number of cases in each state. Red for 100,000 and up cases in the state, orange for 40,000 to 99,999 cases, yellow for 10,000 to 39,999 cases per million, and green for 0 to 9999 cases per million.

The final table is shown below.

I will make some comments based on my observations. You may disagree, if you wish. Your observations are invited.

The states with the lowest total number of cases are typically rural, and also have the lowest number of cases per million and deaths per million (mostly green in these columns). However, the number of tests per million in this group ranges from lowest to the highest tests per million (all colors shown in this column).

The states with the highest number of cases typically include very large cities. These high case number states typically had high cases per million and high deaths per million (mostly red in these columns). The number of tests per million for these states ranged from low to medium high (green, yellow and orange in this column).

The states with the moderate number of total cases (10,000 to 100,000), do not show much consistency in cases per million, deaths per million, or tests per million. Results (and colors) tend to range from low to high.

State growth rates for June 15, 2020. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.500) with 73 cases, Guam (0.200) with 185 cases, Oklahoma (0.144) with 8417 cases, Idaho (0.133) with 3462 cases, and Montana (0.111) with 609 cases. US Virgin Islands, Guam, and Montana have few cases. All states have reopened to various levels.

A column on the right shows the current growth rate divided by the 5 day moving average. Guam, Kansas, Rhode Island, US Virgin Islands, and US Military were over 2.0 yesterday (red highlight). Idaho and Oregon were over 1.5 yesterday (yellow highlight). This column is an early warning of increasing cases beyond day to day noise.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.0176 for yesterday, up slightly from previous day of 0.0170. This is not population or case number weighted.
