8-10" of snow... down here it was 83 F today! Going to cool down to 67 tomorrow... much more seasonable for early November! The warm weather would have been nicer if it wasn't so humid.

IF YOU ARE REALLY CHEAP, you can buy plumbers putty and use it to rub out oxidized paint. It will help bring back a shine for just a few bucks.bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑07 Nov 2016, 09:00The clay bar is a great tool, but just make sure you buy a good one. I made the mistake of buying that Chinese knock-off 3M stuff on Amazon... never again! Buy a reputable brand like Mother's, Meguiar's, or Griot's. I have some thick overspray, so I'm probably going to need to go over it again, but on the lighter parts it worked great. Definitely something to try out. You'll never believe how rough your paint is until after you clay it!ZionXIX wrote:Do you get good results with the clay bar? Yesterday I clayed a bunch of overspray off from painting the driver's door and waxed my V70.
Not that I am THAT cheap.

Speaking of weather, we have a nice 8" of snow out there and the temp is dropping. I'm just glad we live on the western slope away from that painful blue Canadian air! It's not conducive to outdoor fixits!
So, in starting up an 850 ('94) which has been sitting in storage for a while, the heater blower fan is going full blast. Odd because I had turned everything off to put less load on the battery. The slider knob can be at zero/OFF, at AUTO, or anywhere on the fan speed slide, and it blows the same speed, which feels like full.
Is this a quirk from sitting, it'll settle down once I'm driving it regularly? Is it outside temp related? Is it dead battery related? I jumped it with another car, then pulled the battery to top up inside where it's warm.
Thanks -

Sounds like the blower motor resistor may be the problem. They tend to fail spontaneously and will cause these symptoms.BlackBart wrote: ↑09 Nov 2022, 16:06 Speaking of weather, we have a nice 8" of snow out there and the temp is dropping. Well that sucks! Finally trying to get to the 850 wagon repairs?
Our cold weather and snow last time around came up over the border uninvited from Montana! We are at about -20C tonight without wind chill. Tomorrow it is heading up to around -5C! Yay!
Got the front wheels of and hubs cleaned and lug bolts as well. Still waiting for the wheels to be re-sealed for the front so got on with the oil and filter change. Car has only done about 1500km since last oil change 2 years ago (and 1200km of that was this year!).
Hope to get the last 2 wheels back tomorrow and the the 'R' can get tucked away for the winter.
Neil.
