Yeah, this was a first for me, with the cartridge inside the reusable plastic housing. I think it's kinda weird, as it's like going back to the 50's small block Chevy, although I never changed one of those, I remember seeing it mentioned in magazines about converting to spin on.MoVolvos wrote: ↑06 Mar 2023, 22:50 Once you loosen it, just before it starts to drip slip a bag over it and move the rubber band all the way to the top of the thin grocery bag before spinning. The S70 changed to the cartridge, not sure when in the later models and that does not spin freely as the gasket is in contact with the threads all the way down.
The Volvo must keep some oil above the filter, as I got a small flood as soon as the o-ring was free. I had assumed I'd be able to pull it down without spilling. That might have happened with the 850 spin-on too.
