Compare the right edge of the idler pulley to the left edge of the water pump pulley. They are not parallel. The pump pulley is not 30 degrees angle, but is not straight. I had to go back and look at photo to see the angle.

Also very apparent when you look at the top surfaces of both. The pump shaft is noticeably tilted toward the idler.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

Took the battery charger off the 850, and started it up. I let it run for about 20 minutes, or so. I was a bit surprised that as soon as it started the blower motor sounded funny, and then I got water coming out of the dash. It looked like melted snow. I hope nothing cracked when it likely refreezed at some point. I also made the mistake of putting on the parking brake. I hope that isn't sticking now. The rotors already look pretty nasty.

I'd like to get it back out on the road, but we keep getting winter weather on the weekends, so more salt gets dumped. It's supposed to rain the next few days, which will help wash it away.

I sort of see the difference in angles. The faces of the idler and pump appear to be in significantly different planes. The lower portion of the pump (in reality, upper right in the picture) appears pressed away from the engine.

My old Mercedes had a loose water pump which would wobble occasionally, wearing a groove inside the pump. Now I'm amazed that survived until I was able to replace it. This reminds me to replace the timing belts, tensioners, and water pumps on my two V70s which are grossly overdue (though not being driven much if at all).

Finally took a few hours to solve the issue of the tailgate trim clips, I'm getting tired of replacing them every year (repair kit included) and still not holding

Getting rid of the broken plastic

Made some 3d printed clips

Great idea. Could you start a new thread and upload them there or to a public repository like Thingiverse? That would allow everyone access to this simple solution.

How are you securing the bottom edge of the tailgate?

Public service announcement: My girlfriend reported a squeak from the rear end of poor neglected Geronimo. Turns out, one of the rear calipers seized closed on the pads only 15 months after I had replaced it.

Don't assume your newly installed parts are free from failure in the short term. Don't ignore a seemingly slight problem like a little squeak.

I think I (she) caught this early enough to save the pads and rotors. Too bad the replacement caliper is backordered with no ETA at FCP.

Here you go, I might make a thread once they have survived a few thousand miles/months of use

Still using the factory clips for the bottom edge, never had an issue with those and I have a lot spares since you cant buy the top ones separately

Those clips are awesome! Nice job! That should hold up much better than the original crap.

Someone needs to put together a catalog on that site of all the Volvo-related parts. Separated by chassis, since there are probably MANY 3D printed parts that will benefit old Volvos. Particularly the interiors.
I wish I could remember the other part I saw recently that I wanted to get printed.
