Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)
OCD by itself isn't necessarily debilitating if you manage it/apply it to areas where it either doesn't hurt anything or even helps. Few would ever complain about a airline mechanic who completely wraps their OCD around their work, for example. A good friend of mine has strong unmanageable cases of both OCD and adult ADHD. Bundle those two together in the same package. Can be somewhat disturbing to watch at times.

My OCD is pretty extreme, but I like to think I manage it very well! Fortunately I don't have to deal with ADHD.

Kind of sounds like my 2001 Saab 95 V6 wagon. It wasn't until I gunned it on the highway that I felt that turbo boost, though I only ever felt that once because I had neglected to replace the coolant hoses after rebuilding the turbo, and it dumped coolant shortly afterward. Still hurts!bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑21 Jul 2018, 07:58 The T5 just keeps pulling in the high end. It's much more fun than my GLT that runs out of steam rather quickly. The T5 is similar to my old 9-5 Aero, most of the power is up top.

Unfortunately I never got to feel my 9-5 Aero with full power. All of the cylinders were low on compression because of a leaking head gasket. One day, hopefully soon, I'll have another one that is all sorted out!brunocerous wrote: ↑24 Jul 2018, 12:44 Kind of sounds like my 2001 Saab 95 V6 wagon. The high pressure turbo 2.3 in those holds a lot more boost than the 3.0, which I think only boosts around 5 PSI stock. Even on low compression, that Aero moved!

The third time the page didn’t load aligned with the last question I got uncomfortable and had to go count pencil leads until I felt better.June wrote: ↑23 Jul 2018, 16:07I took the test and it is correct I am a perfectionist who challenges myself daily. Weapons of choice: 1. strongly mixed upholstery solution applied with a wash mit, 2. rinse with a POWER SPRAYER, 3. suck out the rinse water with an Upholstery wand.
Someday I'll pull the front driver side carpet and do the same. The upholstery wand by itself has trouble getting out sand and salt that's caked deep down into the pile/backing.
On a probably related note, I came across this little 'OCD test' earlier...15/15 in a couple minutes only by looking with my eyes says I'm full tilt.
Only People with OCD Scored 15/15 In This Impossible Spelling TestJune. Oh 15/15 too

Pulled dash, climate system, hard lines and receiver dryer, and pulled bad evaporator in....
3 hours, working with partner.
Good day.
M6 hex bolts and hard lines all pulled apart by hand or simple wrenching. No cutting required.

Well, I did it. I pulled the trigger and yanked out my lower dash today to repair the mounts. They were all totally destroyed.
Removal wasn't nearly as hard as people have said, likely because removing the dash pad, console, and steering wheel takes me 20 minutes since I've done it 100 times. It was a little tricky to lift the lower dash out, definitely something you'll need some assistance with. Fortunately Volvo made the wiring simple and just used the large yellow connector above the driver's footwell and one more connector in the radio area.
I used pieces of a metal strip from Home Depot and made some reinforcements, glued those in over what was left of the factory mount that I re-glued with some JB Weld Plastic Weld.
Then I used some leftover fiberglass to reinforce that, similar to what amblerman did in his great writeup.
I'll reinstall everything tomorrow to give the fiberglass time to cure. I'm really hoping this will silence my dash once and for all, because on the rougher roads around here the noise drives me absolutely insane.

Butyl tape each mount point and put a piece on each end too ,at the friction tape. Right over top. That’s tape will stick to the glass and stop all the motion and noise.bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2018, 19:43 Well, I did it.
