I've tried both a wobble and a flex drive approvhing from above and below. I cannot get it to seat enough to turn the bolt. I think I may have to loosen the thermostat housing to give me more wiggle room.
What did you do to your Volvo today? Topic is solved

I use a 1/4" hinges drive like Abscate mentioned. I put a small magnet in the socket so it holds the nut from dropping, but also use electrical tape on the hinge/swivel so I can control it it better.

My buddy, (who recently rebuilt his son's 2000 S70 NA manual cylinder head) contacted me to say he is having issues with poor running. Based on the ECM codes looks like it may be the ECM/ETM getting funky on them. I have a spare NA ETM date coded 06 so I have given him that to try so hopefully that works.
Got the 'summer' rims on the 'R' as we have to use it at least for a tank full of gas before winter hits us. I decided to try and see if it would start. It did on the first turn of the key! The 'boss' now plans to start using it and we are putting our son's car on rest duty so we can put miles on the R. Maybe give me time to finally tackle the leaking RH transmission seal and give the car a once over!

Check battery and grounds first. The brake pidition sensor can light up the ETS light , too
Got the peripherals on and fired up Elizabeth. She clicked for about 30 minutes and spat out a cam position code , then settled into the throaty 300 HP idle
Total hours of rework for install, 11 hours? I do lose some time as this was broken up into 4 sessions of 3 hours, roughly. Also, I scrub parts to cleanliness, removing all oil grime , probably 2 hours of cleaning included in that. There were also losses of sorting out bagged parts on this one, 14 months is a long time to remember stuff,

Yesterday I was finally able to install the Thule roof rack system on Ingrid, the new 98' S70 5-speed. Thanks again Neil and Chuck for helping me to find the parts for the mounting feet and the fit kit. It was a difficult installation because the bars would not go into the brackets without shaving material off the plastic coating. I am not sure why this is, but maybe because I was using old used bars had something to do with it. I cannot imagine Thule would sell something that doesn't fit together. I am reusing the bike carriers which I had on multiple cars now.
We are off on a little road trip to Rhode Island to visit friends and do some biking together.

hi all well 3 days ago i jacked up the 855 to remove rear wheels in order to bleed the brakes, wish i hadt! i found the entire hub moved about when i lent on it
on investigation i found the rear inner axle bush entirely broken and have had to replace them both, one was real easy just came undone and swapped out in a few minutes.
the other side has taken me 2 and a bit days! the first bolt came out no problem, the second one was seized solid and no amount of wd40 and coaxing would shift it,i used a fork type balljoint splitter under thhe big washer at the top and all that did was end up bending the bolt but it was still not moving,i put the nut back on to save the thread and stuck the jack under and on the bolt and had the entire weight of the car on it,still no movement even a large breaker bar could not turn it.
so i went for tea and meds and had a think, decided against the blowtorch and heating as its the petrol tank very close and there is a fuel smell around the vicinity so tried the hot air paint stripper and did get it really hot but despite breaking loose and turning albeit very tight and very little loads more wd40 and try again and again to no result,so i resorted to the angle grinder and a cutting disc well 4 in total discs and chopped right through the entire mounting through the bolt top and bottom before the bugger came out! this is the kit i fitted as volvo no longer supply them in uk, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285422212913
proffesional parts sweden meant to be oe spec or better,we shall see def not a job i care to repeat in this lifetime!
still waiting for the replacement abs pump to come from germany and mot ran out on the 15th now praying the weather stays dry at least till pumps in and working but doubt that as its england! im sore as hell now too,big fat pipe and tea time shower and bed, peace

My mechanic buddy and I just did this on the 96 850 I have already done a lot of work on. Owner took it for an alignment but the people aligning it said the rear adjusters on one side were seized. That is what you have just replaced, so if you have not done it yet, I strongly recommend having a 4 wheel alignment done ASAP to save your rear tires (assuming you have not already done that).
We got lucky as:
A) I had cleaned all the rust off the bolts (which did not look like anyone had tried to move them at all) and I also did the same on the rear anti-sway/roll bar bolts as you need to remove that to access the end bolt on the LHS (for the RHS axle end).
B) I had soaked them in something that works as a penetrating oil (not WD-40 which is useless, although they have now brought out a new product that is supposed to work) called PB Blaster a week before we tackled the job. I then re-soaked the bolts the night before as well.
It was actually a bit of a let down as we did not had to replace the part at all. Even the bolts were still shiny black on their shanks. Cleaned up the threads and then greased and refitted. Took so little time we did the other side which was actually stuck. Alignment then re-done the following day and all good.
We were prepared to use all sorts of heat like Propane and MAPP gas, but it was not needed thankfully!!
Glad you got is all done safely!
Neil.

Today is the day people. The xc90 lives! Finish assembling all the little bits in the engine bay. Changed the oil and filter. Added 1 gallon of coolant and started the engine. She idled well. The cams are a little clacky but I'm hoping that will iron out as oil makes its way through there. I took a test drive to the gas. Heard a huge *pop* on the way back that scared the daylights out if me. Engine kept going and a check engine light did appear. Returned home and had to add about 1 gallon more of coolant. Reservoir was empty. I have no idea if that sound was the coolant pressure release or an engine backfire or what?

Excellent! It’s best to give them 20-30 minutes at idle to let the lifters pump up, if you drive it, keep it under 3000 rpm. Click click click. If valve timing isn’t sorted out yet, you can get a pop or two from the exhaust
