I agree on the not starting thing. Once the car is away, it is away. Some of the current fuel treatments claim to keep the gas good for up to 2 years. The bigger issue is that the containers they sell you the product is only good for 2 years yet for example treat 96 (US) gallons..........!
I will try stabilizer this year and run it into the fuel system before turning off the engine for the winter to hopefully get it all the way through the system. Like I said, hopefully it is no worse than this year. So full tank of 91, stabilizer to the prescribed amount, run the engine for 5 minutes and then put the car away after swapping the tire. Oh, and snow and <0C forecast for end of next week.............!
Thanks guys for all the helpful input.
Neil.

My understanding is that gasoline doesn't have the shelf life that it used to.
3 - 4months, and it can start varnishing in lines, injectors, jets etc. Using the stabilizer these days makes sense.

I bought this stuff to give a try. You can apparently no 'overdose' the fuel system, but can also use it as a fuel cleaner on-going as well:
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/star ... &rrec=true
500ml container. 00 V70 R needs about 200ml for a tankful for storage and half that for general cleaning. Time will tell!!

Broke the ball joint pinch bolt driving on our glorious New York roads. Recently did an axle swap and took the whole knuckle out to press the old axle out, but the car has been driven on a 600 mile round trip since then, and it chose to break down 20 minutes from home. What a good car.

Did you re-use the pinch bolt or was it a new one that broke? If a used one, you now know why you should always use a new one.
Hopefully you are ok, and the car repairable.
Neil.

Always a new nut on the ball joint pinch bolt, as well as the two strut bolts/ nuts, is what Volvo calls for.
The ball joint nut is a ovalled head which self locks , so that’s really critical. I used Lowes hardware there. Once. I was darn lucky I caught it coming loose with an inspection protocol.
Order 4 of the 987891 nuts, so you have them in hand next time you are on that ball joint
I’ve been using the Kat to see Mom in hospital, recovering from leg infection. Doing well. Taking a break from work life routine to get her home again soon

Yeah I reused the bolt, this was a good wake-up call to stop cheaping out, especially since we're already saving money doing work ourselves. Thankfully it was at pretty low speeds and something just caught the wheel wrong, it seems everything is ok, I have the bolt and nut on order. This is my sister's car, she has was driving at the time and luckily this was just an annoyance rather than something worse.

Hello there,
Is that a 2nd silver Volvo?
That also looks like the body is in very good shape.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.

We’ve all done it, and I appreciate the PSA to remind us not to do it. I’ve moved to a later in life mode where I buy the new hardware and then I’m compelled to install it rather than return it. Ten years from now, when I age out of rolling underneath, I figure my indie will appreciate new hardware. That’s already saved my life once on the Kat
