If you find a good option I'd love to know.

hi neil i did make my reflectors 50% better just by cleaning with a soft bristled artist paint brush and compressed air, they are fragile and never go near them with any kind of soap or solvent, ask me how i know!many experiments on old reflectors, ran out now.

Today I am waiting a package from Rock Auto. I get an e-mail notice from them on various things they are doing, and one was for P80 parts on clearance. Sometimes it is supplier close-outs and what not.

I took the opportunity to by some generic parts that would make more affordable repairs in my PIF (Pay It Forward) program inspired by Robert DiY. The best deal was Akebono front brake pads for $46 a set CDN ( $35 US). Recently I bought another set for $70 CDN and that was good value when the cheapest in Canada were over $100 and up to nearly $200 at NAPA for the same parts!

Also snagged was a pair of TRW sway-bar end links, a Four season heater core (turned out to be branded Spectra) for $20 and a few other bits and bobs that I know will work on 850's and V/S/C 70 P80's.

So worth taking a look. They even had inner TRW tie-rods but they were for the wrong rack for my car. They were cheaper but not enough that I change enough to warrant having them on the shelf.

So worth looking at your car model, and in my case when you bring your car details up, at the bottom of the parts listing is the Clearance section for that model. Note, some parts were listed for my car, but were not correct.

Neil.

I'm also waiting on parts from them. My S70 turn signals are "out for delivery". Those were a needed thing. I also did a clearance search for each of my vehicles, and those parts are supposed to come tomorrow. I bought another distributor cap for my 850 just because I suspect it will be a Bosch in a Standard Motor Products box.

I already have a set of those in reserve. I think those were also purchased on clearance. I have a set on my S70, and I'm not as impressed with them, as I thought I'd be. Maybe the Textars I removed were that good?

Textar, Pagid & ATE are all good products. Have used them in the past one of which was a 95 E420. Sometimes AutohauzAZ has a good sale. Noticed they've increased their warranty.

I used Textar parking brake pads and those were fine. Maybe they have improved their compounds as they used to make the wheel really dirty with brake dust, just like the OE pads.

Can't say I have had any issue with the Akebonos, on P80's or P2 XC70 we have. I did find that they can be a little less grippy first think especially on cold days until they warmed us but still ok. Best thing was the much lower dirt level on the rims. We do the tire/rim swap twice a year. When you have multiple vehicles, this becomes a pain cleaning lots of black brake dust off.

Anyways each to their own. Whatever you like, go with it. This was just to let folks that like Akebono pads there is a deal to be had.

Now my car feels so much space to just jump backseats and exit other side where i left more space for neighbour to jump to his own car.
Believe it or not, my 2000 R actually allows the driver seat to fold like that too. Weird feature, but it's there. My mom's XC90 only folds the passenger seat, as most Volvos do.
It's a really great feature to have though. I once helped load a full S60R exhaust I sold into someone's XC60 service loaner he had. Barely fit, but that folding passenger seat allowed it to JUST barely clear the hatch.

Got my new turn signals installed. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how long the driver's side will last. The front-end on the S70 is banged up from a previous owner, and that's the side that took the hit. The lower plastic tab is bent more than it's designed to bend, and I suspect it might break. The original has mostly been held in with clear tape.

I also noticed that these new TYC lights seem to have flakes of the silvering stuck to the lens. I don't know why. The lights for my truck weren't like that.

Tonight, I'll see if I can get the headlights aimed a bit better. I need to remember to take my metric Allen wrenches with me.

I HATED the Textars on the wife's car when we did the 302 conversion. Noisy and dusty. We have Bosch on there currently, and have been good.

I haven't tried hand cleaning the wheels on my S70 this year.... been too busy. I do recall that last year, it didn't take to long before the dust started accumulating. That would have been with the Textars. I think I installed the Akebonos in November.

It is hard to be too worried if our car is only doing 300 miles a year like this year!

I had been thinking of doing an oil change, but with only 300 miles on the oil and filter in the fall weather, they can stay in for another year. Hopefully next year we will get a bigger mileage on the car!
