Getting around to buying 2 gallons of ATF for a Gibbons method, but now I realize, is it a PITA to fill because you need to go through the dipstick tube? Do you just get a funnel attached to a hose and wait, or is there a smarter way to go about ii?

Yes on the dipstick tube, there are long tapered funnels just for this purpose. I don't use a hose, that's one too manly moving parts. This is not a sixty-second job; Patience is a virtue.RedBrickCollector wrote: ↑10 Jan 2024, 02:51 Getting around to buying 2 gallons of ATF for a Gibbons method, but now I realize, is it a PITA to fill because you need to go through the dipstick tube? Picked up some vintage Yakima towers and bars so I can attach a ski rack to the roof.

So a friend of my brother who had a T-5 when new says mine feels a little down on power at the top end. I don't think I currently have vaccuum leaks but I plan to replace the vacuum lines anyway. No clue on boost leaks. Other than that the common things to check that I can see are wastegate, CBV and fuel pump.
I think after checkign for leaks the next step is wastegate? But beyond "wastegate spring gets weak" I can't really tell what should be done here. Is that a replaceable part or do you do the 1-2 turns adjustment? I believe I'll need to borrow a turbo gauge for this but I can't find what numbers I should be looking for and what RPM.

I bought the ipd vac hose kits for both the 850 and the P2. It’s an assorted color pack, and 1000% easier to route and see where you are compared to oily black ones.

Unfortunately not a practical option as I live outside the USA. The odd situation I'm now in is that I can get either 4mm vacuum line or 6mm vacuum line (ID). I usually see 5mm recommended so I'm not sure what to go with. 4mm as the lesser volume is better for response? I used iirc 8mm for the line from the manifold to the PTC when I did the PCV, but if I understood correctly that's basically a one-off size yes?

Use the 4mm. It's a tighter fit, and you won't have to worry about them coming loose or blowing off.RedBrickCollector wrote: ↑11 Jan 2024, 07:52Unfortunately not a practical option as I live outside the USA. Success! Using vintage Yakima Q Towers and new Q clips (51 for the front; 52 for the rear), I managed to get the roof rack installed.
One of the towers had a stripped 6mm allen bolt, but it tightened a clamp to the crossbar and wasn't removable. So, I tapped the tower against the way it clamps, and it loosened enough to reposition it properly. Whew!

I think I may still have my towers! They have a little pin that fits in the hole above the door?
