Well back with a more major inconvenience.

The brake fluid tank has been emptying recently and i have not noted any pools of fluid on the ground. Hoping its a torn brakeline near the wheel. This thread is to document the process.

The peddle has an intermittent stiffness, and recently it feels like the brake peddle holds firm and holds the car, then 20 seconds later it feels the calipers loosen out.

Guess i get to do my 6 month mechanic visit on time this year.

Do you have a strange smell in the cabin of your car? The master cylinder can leak into the brake booster. This can also affect the vacuum to the booster which will give you a hard pedal.

+1, what Neil said.
On some non-power assisted brakes the stuff can end up saturating the carpet.
The pedal going away is diagnostic for an internal leak if you don't see any on backing plates, &c.
You folks may suffer from rusted brake lines someplace other than the four corners too.

Brake leaks are typically slow and you will not see puddles, but a wet cylinder behind the wheel. Crawl under with a light and look closely. Bad brakes scare me like nothing else.

After each brake fluid change , no more than 24 months apart, I put. A sharpie mark on the brake fluid level. That level should not change unless you are driving 20-30000 miles

To add, previously ive seen wetness below the master brake cylinder which i assumed was just me spilling fluid. Ill take a good look later today and see if i can pinpoint the failure. Keeping an extra bottle of dot4 (1L) in my car now.

Hoping its a quick or easy fix in terms of resources. Did 5 alternator swap motions over the last 2 weeks until i finally made my rebuilt last. Now this, man i love this car. Estimated 6k a year on gas but no cars are available now

. The front logo fell off my car on top of this so gotta take it with a smile. Will post updates later today

I did notice a smell a few days back that smelled like brake fluid when the issue first came up.

Are you AT or m56? The clutch system pulls fluid from the same reservoir so that can be a leak if you waggle the shifter for r gears

Automatic transmission. Will post a pick of the master cylinder and reservoir after work.
