P80 Spring seat lifespan and top torque mount too??

Post by scot850 »

I know this is a case of how long is a piece of string, but while I have fitted new seats to front strut springs, I have usually never had the car long enough to need to change them again.

I am looking at the top of the seats on my friends 100,000 mile V70 NA base and I can see the start of cracks appearing near the center where the shaft sleeve is. Any idea how long they may have before needing replaced?

I am trying to put together a planned maintenance schedule for this car so the single mum who owns it can try to budget for repairs. Currently I try to use parts from my used stash where safety or reliability is not a concern, and my labor is free, but she insists on paying for the parts. I find the best deals and she then orders the parts in here name so she has the paperwork.

Similarly, the top torque mount is starting to show signs of cracks beginning at the top and bottom of the center piece. Same issue here that I have never had to replace one that wasn't already failed!

Thanks,

Neil.

I had 2 850 Petrol and a V70 Diesel, each time, I've replaced these parts, and they seemd to be always original factory parts: cars from 1995, 1996 and 1998.
