Ignition switch?

Hi! My key broke off in the ignition of my 1991 volvo 240 and I went with the screwdriver method to try and start the car. When this didn't work i went ahead and broke the tumblers. That was a success. However, I cant get the pins out of the cylinder to slide the assembly out yet... those pins are tricky and i think i need to buy some dremel wheels and try to notch them. But i was able to pull the ignition switch from the assembly and turn it with a screwdriver. the lights work and it will try to start but it will not catch and will not turn over. This is stressful- the car was great before this happened so I feel I've gotten in a bit over my head now. Any advice would be appreciated- this site is awesome!!!
