Trunk and Fuel door switch not working

Post by tommylg »

I had some ECC work done and now heat/air work as they should - windscreen/face level and floor.
However, now the fuel door and the trunk switch makes no click.
So, I put a volt meter to the fuel door switch and have nothing - no click or voltage. I have two switches and test them both.
At the rear actuator I have voltage to the pigtail. The emergency plungers works as it should.
In looking at the images,
does the green pigtail appear to be an issue,
what are the relays near the hood release and could one of them be the cause,
I have checked #4 immobilizer, #6 central locking fuses and they are good,
could eurofix disconnected something while fixing the ECC/
Too damn many questions, ha.

Happy Fathers Day,
Tommy

It is more likely to be a broken or frayed wire in the door LH front door harness. I am fighting the fuel flap release issue on a 98 V70. I have a full harness I harvested to swap in at sometime in the future.

The disconnect is on the door. On the A pillar there is a small T10 locking screw that has to be removed and then the outer ring of the connector can be rotated CCW until it releases. You may need a pair of channel lock/adjustable pliers for this.

Once that is removed, it is just a case of disconnecting the various connectors in the door. Hardest to do is the door marker light and the door actuator. There are 2 locating pins on the inner rear door edge that hold the cable in place.

You have to feed all the wiring out through the front of the door.

Before sitting a sued one, peel back the rubber boot at the door connector end and check maybe 3-4" of the wiring from the connector to see if the insulation has split on any of the wires. You can either wrap with electrical tape, or liquid electrical tape and wrap any split wire with a good one to prevent further breakage.

Thanks guys! That at the very least gives me a direction to commence dianostics.
Now when I open the door from the outside, the hazard switch clicks 43 times - yes 43 times each of the 5 times opening the door.
Additionally I am in a no-sttart.
Is something/one thing locking up every system? Is this possibly related to the theft alarm?
The puzzle keeps expanding, damn!

Thank you,
Toomy

Unlocking with the remote or from the driver’s
door with the key should disarm the system.

Despite my previous posts, I believe I have found the genisis of all of my issues - the driver's side door latch/lock actuator.

I pulled the door latch from my V70 parts car and compared it w/the removed S70 door latch.
The door knob/pivot on the S70 only moved about half way while in the car.
After it was pulled, I was able to free it up to move in it's full range of motion.
Additionally, the "nub" where the door knob attaches to the pivot is broken on one side so the knob will not stay attached (can you see that in the image)?

The questions are:
how/should I lubricate the plastic pivot points;
will I need to use the V70 key and should he key be scanned;
can I test it before a re-install;
what is the process to reset the alarm?

I think that is enough for today, lol.

Thank you, Tommy
