P2 2005 V70 lock cylinder replacement Catherine

Post by abscate »

My tumblers jammed up so I ordered a new one from Volvo , by VIN

Drop the three T25 screws in the lower plastic steering wheel cover

Unsnap the top cover from the rubber gaiter on top of the steering wheel, remove top.

The P2 doesn’t have a lock clamshell like the P80, the security screws bolt into a metal bracket welded to the column

I used a Dremel to put a slot into them , then cracked with a large slotted screwdriver

Transfer the Antenna and electrical part of the ignition switch

AT will she to transfer the shift interlock , I didn’t on my M56

You should use regular bolt so removal is easier.

Or just tighten it snug and bit more w/o breaking the top hex nut.
The idea of using security bolts is kind of old engineering idea, the modern thieves have a way to steal the car w/o messing with the security bolt.

BTW, what is the PN and how much is the new Volvo tumbler now?

😎😎😎

That puppy is a bit under $400 retail at the dealer. Keys extra.

I’ll pull the part number but you order by VIN
