Hose from Condenser to Compressor, '98 V70 T5

Post by 5rivers »

Greetings,

I have a 1998 V70 T5 that is leaking a redish-color oil (transmission oil?) that is connected on one end to the condenser (needs a torx socket to remove) and to the compressor on the other end. I'd have to look a bit closer to this latter end to see how it is attached. But, I am wondering what this hose is called.

I've replaced a transmission oil cooler hose that runs from the radiator to the transmission, but the hose mentioned above looks a lot like the pressure hose line that is part of the power steering connections between the pump/reservoir and the steering rack on my other 1998 V70 base model. The hose in question has solid metal parts on each end with a braided covering to most of the line.

Appreciate any help on this and thank you in advance for sharing!

Can you post pictures to help us identify for you. The compressor has PAG oil in it to lubricate it. It could be that you are seeing. Can't recall the color.

Power steering fluid on a 98 is ATF so is also red.

Thanks,

Neil.

Pressure side from the compressor to driver side of condenser AC hose?

I should have a spare from one of the parts cars if interested.

Part 9171666 It is pricy new, about $200

Yes, abscate, that is the correct hose! Are these difficult to remove?
Let me know your travel plans, maybe I can meet you if you're not in CNY in the near future, ok?

Many thanks!

One bolt at each end, usually internal hex, so dig out the dental pick and clean the hole out to seat the bit fully to apply torque. I’ve rarely had trouble getting these out. You can get to the one on the compressor using long extensions working to the left side of car up top, too.

The one on the condensor is easier.

Don’t forget Irwin extractors on the outside if they strip, they work like magic.

I usually always replace the hardware with new Volvo stuff on these parts

I will see if Miss Madeline can shuffle parts from North Country to SYR via Albany detour
