Hi,
Hope someone can help me.
My 2007 S60 has HID headlight bulb, D2R type as shown (pic is from random internet photo).
The plastic lens: I have polished it and it is nice and transparent.
But I notice the L side is a bit less bright than the R side when driving on highway at night.
So the question is: can D2R bulb degrade with time, i.e., produces less lumen as it gets older?
I know the old-school H7 bulb does not do that, it is either alive (bright) or dead, nothing in between.
Thanks for any info...

I’ve always found the reflectors are the things thst degrade Volvo lights, not the lens or bulbs. How do those look?

RE: the H7 bulbs "dimming". I only replaced driver's side bulb last failure and the new bulb is noticeably brighter than the older passenger bulb. n=1 sample size

Swap the bulbs across sides, make a judgement on what to do with actual parts you have. May be more rewarding than soliciting and/or chasing hearsay!cn90 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2022, 11:32 ... But I notice the L side is a bit less bright than the R side when driving on highway at night.

Thanks for all the replies...
The car is with my son in college some 600 miles away.
Next time I have opportunity to look at it (probably will install 2 new bulbs at that time) and will report back.

Swapping bulbs around is a perfect first maintenance job, teach him it's not just a black box that moves him around town he'll appreciate it eventually!

I’m proud of mine, and they are legendary as being the only ones who can change a tire, jump a battery, or break into a lockout.

- The car is still some 600 miles away from me. I will visit my son in college soon.
- Question: how do I know which bulb is in the car?
- Is it D1S vs D2R?
