98 V70 here is a new one ..alarm going off

So when I put my key in the driver door,

Opened the car up, alarm started going off.

Put key into ignition, and car wouldn't start.

Alarm still going off.

Tried locking and relocking, and also tried using the lock on the rear gate of the wagon.

No dice.

Any thoughts on where to start?

I'm about to disconnect the battery for a half hour, and then try again.

Car was working absolutely fine a few hours ago.

Thanks in advance for any advice , have to use the car in the late am tomorrow.

Do you have a fob? You need that to cancel the alarm when it goes off. You might be able to reset with a battery disconnect.

Also try locking and un-locking more than once.

May be an issue with the the door
key cylinder's arm/disarm switch.

When you unlock at the door,
if you turn the key to open twice,
do the other doors unlock?

I don't have the fob.

Only the driver door lock will reset the alarm. If you lose continuity in the wiring in the door, the key will unlock the mechanical lock but not turn off the alarm.

I just ignored them, and let them sleep overnight, and then they went away LOL.

Check out my latest debacle and problem on my latest post looks like my sunroof decided to do the F-16 ejection process!

Ok so alarm is going off again. Disconnected the battery. Hopefully it will reset.

Not good I'm stuck and the hurricane Ian is coming to Florida.....

Any thoughts?
