front wiper motor xc70 2006

this might be a dumb question but i took my wiper assembly apart and the rotor has these strange gashes in it. there arent gashes in any pictures i have seen of the same part so im.wondering if this is a.problem.

my windshield wipers dont work, but i assumed it was due to corrosion on my CEM. but after seeing this, im curious if the wipers could be a whole other problem all together

I'm pretty sure those are how the manufacturer balanced the armature. Every armature is balanced individually, so each will have a different pattern of gouges. You can even see them in the picture on wikipedia for 'armature (electrical)'.
